Hello darling
Is mise Duncan Posted Apr 20, 2000
..I'm a little bit concerned, because I've heard a rumour that it is _illegal_ for pubs in Ireland to open on good Friday...I mean, what is the point in having a bang-collar day if the pubs shut?
There is a possibility that you can get a drink if you are on a train...but I don't know if this is true, ort if everyone is pulling my leg.

well I know that they take religion seriously over there but that is going a little to far. I have a great joke about trains in Ireland but I cannot post it on here mainly because it would probably break the terms and conditions

Duncan I'm sorry to tell you it is true.
In the north they can't open after about 2. So everyone is free to go to mass. Check around you may be able to find a lock in somewhere.
Of course I am not condoning illegal activity.

They changed (extended) the licensing laws some time last month and I was caught out by this last night...good grief - where's the coffee/solpadeine/unsolicited sympathy?
Hello darling
Abi Posted Aug 18, 2000
Did I get any sympathy on Tuesday morning - no I think not. You can have a painkiller and a slurp of my double shot latte but that is it!!!

That's the thing aboiut unsolicited sympathy - you really have to go looking fo it .
Urgh - doesn't solpadeine taste awful...oh wait now, I'm supposed to disolve these? Man, I should read the instructions first .

I'm feeling a great deal better now. I'd like to thank the people of Beechams Healthcare, Ballygowan mineral waters and Macdonalds...a powerful cure indeed.

Eeeep, no.
I'm a creature of habit - Big Mac meal for me.
I particularily like the fact that a "Big" mac meal is available in regular and large.
Ideally I would have had a chicken curry instead, but the pub where I would get that delight has been closed for renovations for the last couple of months...it is sorely missed.

Aah - je comprends.
I have been thinking about my school reunion and other anno domini thoughts as its 10 years since I did my A-levels. A bit early for a mid-life crisis, don't you think?

..but by then won't it be a year overdue?
Anyhow - it is now Saturday morning and I feel a great deal better so perhaps it was more "alcohol" than "anno domini" .
Now all I have to do is shake the nagging feeling that I shouldn't be here on Saturday!

Well - you were there on Sunday...
Anyhow - off the record, is there a maximum size for a forum post?
I'm trying to expand the random entry selector at http://www.h2g2.com/A420030 to select from all the approved entries, but somewhere between the 500 that I have now and the 1948 possible ones the connection times out...any ideas?

I was not here - I was sitting at home in a big comfortable armchair with a Gin and Tonic ICQing a few friends! Huge difference!
Not sure - I will see if I can find out for you.

Ah - Gin and Tonic and a chat...that's got to be in the definition of a proper Sunday.
Also - a good session with a broadsheet paper (I favour the Observer, but that's just me being wishy washy ), a pot of Ethiopian coffee and perhapos a bacon butty for lunch.
..and most importantly, no work!
