When my van was stolen my accountant got me a big fat write-off on that year's accounts, no pun intended. It took away some of the bad taste in my mouth that came from knowing I'd still be paying the bank loan for three more years on something I didn't own any more

Oh that's worse - at least my van was a cheapie and didn't cost me anything once it was gone!

I am going to try to get the hire van costs back from the dealer who sold me the crapbox, that was over £800, plus he agreed to pay for half the costs of the repairs, although whether he'll stick to that or I'll have to drag him to the small clams court I don't know.
