Got my first dog behaviour consultation in about an hour! Was going to have a coffee at my brother's house on the way out, but am running a bit behind.
Had to go over my notes one more time, and print out all the registration forms as they want dog walking as well.
To me, their dogs problems aren't problems at all, they're just stuff dogs do that the owners would rather their dog didn't do but don't know how to stop it (and they've asked old-fashioned trainers who don't understand terriers, so making the stuff slightly more 'stuffy'). Because I'm new at dealing with people, I'm doing this for free on condition they fill in a feedback form for me, I've taken one for each family member, including the 9 year old!
Good job too, as I really don't know how much I should charge. Stupidly I didn't log the time I spend on research & notes before the visit.
Ah well, this is why I need experience!
Now, must brush my hair as I'm dealing with people. Dogs don't care if I look as if I've been dragged through a greasy hedge backwards, but I think people might...

keep warm (the one advantage to being here at my Dad's is Ican use the dog to help me keep warm ) And some dogs do*care about appearance... I think* that is why the dog barked at my Father today when he was wearing his very silly hat Mind, we've got a very neurotic dog who is currently sleeping in my*chair downstairs

Good advice, I left a jumper, my thick gloves and *both* scarves at home. Stupid! Cos when I realied I'd drained the battery by leaving my headlights on it was pretty chilly out there fiddling about with it!
Consultation went well. Lots of lovely feedback! And the experience was good. Lets see if it works for them, that's the big test really.

I suppose you've got this book? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Think-Dog-Owners-Canine-Psychology/dp/0304361720
I bought it for a friend and he said it was brilliant.

Yes. I have a bookshelf filled with dog books! Some of them reference only, but others I do read all the way through.
I read that one again recently actually.
