Hi Crescent, thx for the personnal touch.
I haven't been here all that long, I registered some time ago and forgot about it and came back to find a thriving community.
There really is some excellent work being done here and I would like to commend you for your part in it.
Also, please excuse my plagarism of nomenclature, my friend, Major Major, suggested it.

Plagarism of nomenclature? I wouldn't know anything about that...

Well you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.
Funnily enough I think the rest of Joseph Heller's stuff is awfull! Have you read Something Happened? Erk....

Actually someone in another forum was just singing it's praises. But no, I've never read it! Is there a Major Major on this site? I know that someone else keeps refering to me as Major Major Major Major. Funnily, people keep asking me why I didn't choose "Yossairan" as a nickname...

Well, I guess it had some interesting parts, but on the whole I found it long winded and repetitive. It had a similar flavour to "The Dice Man" by Luke Rhineheart, which is well worth checking out.
Closing Time, the sequel to Catch 22 (kindoff) isn't bad at all, but I guess it's just hard to follow up on a true classic and expect the work to have the same impact.

Well, there's an article waiting for approval on Catch 22... it mentions how, when someone pointed out that Heller'd never written a novel that topped Catch 22, he pointed out "nobody else has, either".

Ya, I guess for the theme and the time of the book it's pretty much in it's own leauge. I thought MASH was pretty good as well. I can't remember who wrote it, but it's the precursor to the film and series, and far funnier.

Yossarian, you've unwittingly stumbled upon something I've written an article on...
Dr Richard Hooker wote the novel. You can find all sorts of info on M*A*S*H in general at http://www.h2g2.com/A264395
