Most definitely! We'd have so much to talk about! smiley - biggrin Someday I plan to take a month or so and just travel around meeting everyone. Unfortunately, as always money and time are the issues. But I will do it some day! smiley - bigeyes

Mrs Pollifax has long been one of my favorite fictional characters, along with Amelia and family and Lord Peter Wimsey. I cut my mystery teeth with Dorothy Gilman, Elizbeth Peters/Barbara Michaels, Ellis Peters, Dorothy Parker and - of course - Agatha Christie.

Speaking of dancing, how goes the flamenco? I'm still belly dancing and loving every second of it. I can even - almost - do my stomach rolls finally!

Lord Peter Wimsey? Ellis Peters? Agatha Christie?

Arghhhh!!! So familiar!

How about P.D. James?

...and the flamenco dancing is becoming more addictive than ever...smiley - bigeyes

P.D. James? Wonderful stuff!

Yes, we definitely must meet when I finally make it over there. smiley - biggrin

I've already got a room set aside in the new house specifically for belly dancing and yoga. Now all I have to do is plan what colours I want to paint it. smiley - winkeye

Alright - how about Feng Shui?

A must have! Along with Vastu (the Indian version of Feng Shui). My dance/yoga room is in the south-eastern corner of the house. smiley - biggrin

This is simply too much fun!

*suspiciously*

Was that you posting about Tony Hillerman at OTD?

Greetings, Gw7en!...

Post 10

Gw7en, Voice of Chaos (Classic)

No. The address that my OTD mails go to is down and I can't get it to change addresses.

Tony Hillerman is fun though. After all, I do live in the Southwestern USA, so I've got a bit of a feel for the things he's talking about. smiley - winkeye

I just happened to see in the paper that there was this performance taking place at the Stockhoml Ethnographic Museum last year - and it was Herman Begay and... and... oh drat! Can't remember the other man's name!

Anyway, Herman Begay is a Navajo (or of the Dine' Nation, as he puts it) and one of the dances performed was one mentioned in one of Hillerman's books (don't remember which one) and I don't remember the name of the dance, something to do with 'grass' - 'long grass?' - 'wind in the grass'? Anyway, it was fascinating to actually see something I had only read about!smiley - smiley

Sorry, but I've really got a lousy memory for names - the only reason I manage to remember my favourite authors is because I read their books again and again - so I see their names repeatedly...smiley - biggrin

:D I have the same problem with names. Now this is just getting spooky! smiley - winkeye

When I was still living with my parents, we lived accross the street from the Koshare Kiva. The Koshares are a group of Boy Scouts who learn Native American dances and perform them. They used to travel all around the world, but lately they stick mostly to the USA. They were remarkable! smiley - bigeyes I got to see them on many occassions and knew many of the dancers. I credit them for the resurgance of my love of dance. (It was made dormant during my "awkward" teenage years...) smiley - biggrin

I doubt you (or anyone) could possibly have more problems with names than I have - or could you? If so, then that's REALLY spooky!

See, I know the names are in SOME part of my brain, but the connection isn't working most of the time - and the scary part is I even get name-black-outs when it comes to my FRIENDS! People I've known for years! Of COURSE I know their names, but when in the middle of a conversation... 'Oh, that was when I visited Istanbul together with... with... uh... with...' (OK, that was Jenny, and yes, I've known her for several years)

Fortunately, close friends of mine are used to this, so they just fill in the name for me (if they know which name, otherwise they just keep guessing until they hit the right one)smiley - biggrin

Muse of Confusion - that's me!smiley - weird

I occasionally have what I have termed "brain farts" (crude, I know. You'll have to accept my apologies, I fear. smiley - winkeye) where I can't remember any names. The only ones that have withstood this are my family's (although I've almost blanked my brother's name).

Fortunately, being raised as a priest's daughter I am very good at having conversations with people where they feel that I know them completely, yet I never once use their names - or anyone else's for that matter. smiley - laugh My school reunion is coming up here soon and I look forward to seeing many, many faces and remembering at least a few names. smiley - winkeye

smiley - laughSo you do know how I feel! Amazingsmiley - online2long

Keeping up conversation - yes, isn't it interesting how much you can say with no name, especially if you encourage the other one to talk about her-/himself...

- I haven't seen you for years, how are you? And your family? (this might prove helpful, hopefully he/she will start dropping some names that will give me at least a hint)

- What do you do for a living nowadays? (lot of talking there)

I once recognized a face so well, but had no idea who the woman was, I kept small-talking, managed to find out she's from my home town - but not until 3 days later I remembered we hade gone to school together during 3 years, 19 years ago! ...and I don't she noticed my confusion...smiley - winkeye

Ah! Someone else who's honed that skill to a fine art! Its good to know that I'm not alone in the world. smiley - biggrin

Although, its probably going to be very interesting when we do meet. We'll both be able to tell elaborate and complete stories without a single name... smiley - laugh
