I know the 'writing in bursts' shtick. I think it's better to do it that way - when I've tried to write sections a few days apart, invariably I'm in a different mood, so the tone changes halfway through. The first three of my latest Uni project at A27731720 were written in as many days, and I think they're great fun. I guess I write best when all those plates are spinning happily on their own...
Actually, thinking about that project, if you need a break from writing have a look at A27875668. I wrote it as the sort of history I'd like to read around the time of your last call to arms - I think you might like it, placeholder line at the top apart

Great story, well told I'll have to read the rest of your Spanish history series later, if they're all even nearly as interesting as that was
And I know you didn't ask for advice, but...
If you think that first sentence is a placeholder and needs replacement, I'd just delete it and the first header. The first sentence of the first section is a strong hook and gets the story rolling right away. Plus the first header is, strictly speaking, unnecessary anyways.
Oh, and the paragraph on the word 'moor' disrupts the flow. It would work better as a footnote in my opinion.
As for writing in bursts, when I did my Legends of Baseball project, I believe I wrote them alphabetically (with the exception of Babe Ruth maybe). You can almost chart how my interest fizzled and I became burnt out based on the writing quality of the Ted Williams entry compared to the Ty Cobb entry

Since I haven't bothered you in, what, 13 hours...
Jimi X made a good point. In the A30501721 Pennsylvania entry, under the 'Word Choice' subheader in the Philly Talk section, third paragraph it would be more clear if 'Ocean City' was modified to say 'Ocean City, NJ'.

Midwestern:
I've only made one significant tweak, adding the words 'and beyond' in:
'While this youth dialect phenomenon was most potent in California some decades ago, it has now spread to shopping malls throughout America, and beyond.'
It's becoming global

The last one was easy. Do you want a final read before we go for review?

J Posted Feb 20, 2008
Eh, I've read it all ten times before and I don't think you've changed anything major without mentioning it, so I say ready when you are.

Great! In that case, would you mind unchecking 'Not For Review' on the project page?

Thanks. I spruced the Index page up a bit, just for fun.
I don't know that I've ever had this many entries up for review before. I've got three of my own, seven in this project and another one coming, hopefully sometime tonight.

Jeez, you do write in bursts, don't you?
I did note your comments on the Spain entry, by the way, and they're appreciated. I feel quite lackadaisical about it, though - you know when you've had great fun writing something, and the idea of it being reviewed feels like a chore? That's why I'm happy for it to be a Uni project, so I don't have to do the tweaking. Mind you, Leo on her own is more hardcore than the rest of PR put together when she gets going - she's great fun to work with.

Fascinating...
I know what you mean about being reluctant to submit to the chore of review. These days, I frequently get irritated during the review process when people get too pedantic. I told someone off the other day for posting a long list of corrections with no sign of having read or in any way appreciated the entry. That's what puts me off reviewing.

No problem, mate - any time
Psychocandy mentioned the Aviators project today, incidentally - have you had any thoughts on it? It could be quite straightforward if we were to just do it in audio. Up to you, anyway - I should take a step back for a few days, but it's strangely addictive

Oh, any time? Well, great, because I have this new project in which I intend to write about the spouses of America's founding fathers. 8-10 entries...
No, only kidding
Audio works for me. It's about spoken words anyways, so that seems natural.

I did the project about spouses of the founding fathers already, you know. You've wasted valuable research time there, though they could perhaps do with an update
I thought of you the other day, while looking at a big map in Torquay Museum that explained where all Devon's explorers had gone in the world. Turns out Sir Walter Raleigh founded the colony on Okracoke Island. Maybe the similarity in pronunciations isn't that much of a coincidence.
