The files from the camcorder are just massive, so free software struggles to load and crop them. It is taking much longer than it did from the digital camera, but the quality is also much better.

So you treated yourself to a camcorder then for christmas? We once had one, at the time, it was very advanced, 'small' and 'light' in comparison to the first models. It lasted about six or seven years, then it stopped working and we never bought a new one. It's great to watch what I recorded back then, though. My nerves must have been a lot better than they are now, I just filmed every nonsense my toddler did. Instead of stopping him causing havoc, I just got the camcorder out.

Cheeky.
Doesn't work all that well with the digi cam I bought for the husband, but then it's not working very well anyway, so hardly worth any fight.

A digital camera is good enough quality anyway, I think. I always feel I'm trying to keep the quality, though, whereas with a camcorder there's plenty to spare. To much, if anything...

If I could be sure that the camera wouldn't destroy the material, I might have a go one day, but the thought of recording something only to find out that it's not saved correctly, or can't be uploaded although you can see it in preview is not really worth the hassle.

Sorry, I've been finishing work on the last clip News may be imminent...
You could always try it out with a very short clip - just film anything for ten seconds and see if works. Just an idea.

For some odd reason, it always works when the husband does it.
But he's never filmed for longer than a minute, I think.
Can't wait to see the results.

Just exporting it, then I just have to drop it into the sequence, tinker with the sound and transitions and then export that. And upload it

If I recall how long it took me to export the entry clip (20min), that could still take a while, I guess, depending on how large the data is.

Nearly there! I had to fiddle with the sound on Soundcheck, which involved going back to the original, because I forgot to do it at the start But then I should be able to start the upload...

Sorry to hear you had problems. It's still quite some trial and error, eh?
You just wait, not long and you'll be quite professional at all this.

There are a few things at work which I rarely do, maybe once or twice a year, and you can bet that I don't recall just what exactly to do the next time I need it. - in other words: I am capable of making the same mistake twice.
