Y'know, the holes left in my luggage where the beer was on the way over will be perfect for the insertion of Ty-Phoo packets on the way back, and the tea will be a whole lot lighter
We really need a smiley.

So what exaclty will you be stocking up with in the UK to take back... I guess there must be some things over here that maybe you can't quite get the same as wayy over there

Drat, I'm still reading this thread and still bemoaning the fact that I can't come. Unfortunately we booked a wedding-celebratory ceilidh in Lincolnshire on the Saturday night, and I can't wiggle out. As it was actually my wedding I've been told that I really ought to go.
Still, my thoughts are with you all and I hope you have a great trip. B- I'm most especially miffed that I'm missing your board game collection. I'd've brought mine along too.

Mostly tea I reckon. I can get a pretty good selection of British foods over here, and I had to remind myself yesterday at the supermarket that there wasn't much point in buying a packet of McVities Rich Tea or Walker's Shortbread at exorbitant prices cos I'll be able to get them much cheaper this time nest week
The place where I buy loose tea here is... I hate it because they hate customers, but it's the only place where I can find decent loose tea at a decent price and it's on my way home from work. I mean, there might be other places where I could get it but not driving puts a bit of a limiter on your movements. I can get Yorkshire Tea at the supermarket but it's pricey.

There's always next time, Vip. The first Meet I went to was attended by dozens of people, and I barely got to know anyone at all apart from Kat. It's not like we're short of accommodation here
Gosho, want me to see if I can get Typhoo in bulk at trade prices for you?

Ooh, yes please 'rich
What kind of package does it come in? The only luggage I'm bringing is a folding flight bag so anything going in there needs to be relatively flat, thin, long or small.

They come in large, soft bags - I think there's 1000 in a bag. I'll check it out for you tomorrow and let you know

Can you get corkscrews like this in the UK?

I don't ever remember seeing them.

Mu Beta Posted Oct 17, 2008
Yup - I own one. Despite all the fancy gadgets one sees on corkscrews, my trusty waiters corkscrew will allow me access to a bottle of wine within five seconds.

That's the corkscrew which is trusty. I don't have a waiter.

I can't find an online product list for the people we use, but I'm sure they do. I'll take a look at their brochure tomorrow.

I spent years using those hopeflessly complicated corkscrews until I finally got hold of the more simpler waiters mate type one... or whatever they're called.... I even had to help my lodger out last week when he failed to be able to open a bottle of with it

Do any of the local fleapits have a website, 'rich? I might want to take in a flick while I'm there, although I'm so spoiled with the Drafthouse I'll be constantly wondering where my beer and my food is

I found one of them.
This trip, I'm going to be confronted with a problem I've never encountered before when travelling - making sure that I remember to bring my glasses. The ones on my face won't be a problem, of course, but I need a stronger pair for reading and a different pair for looking at a PC monitor (other than the laptop screen). Plus at least one spare pair, just in case
And every single one of them came out of lost property at work

Does your hotel have a Wifi point, Rich? We have a few Ebay auctions ending next weekend.

I think I recall 'rich saying that they do. I shall be making ample use of it myself.
