I don't watch a vast amount of TV full stop, but when I do, I'd put preference for "quality" stuff like Blue Planet, etc over something mind beggering inane such as I'm a celebrity hairdresser gimmee more money.
MMF- on the link you gave, you do realise there's info about a guided tour of BBC television centre, don't you? 2 and a half hours and about £9.00 a head.
Its probably not quite the right thread to mention this, but would it be a good idea as an option for a future London Meet, do you think?
Lets get back to saving David Attenborough in the meantime!

Bloody ridiculous. The comments made about BBC3 and 4 are spot on - BBC Four has some good stuff, but it's nearly all put on BBC2 afterwards, anyway. As for BBC3 - did you see Paxman talking to a BBC mouthpiece about it? After giving the usual "innovative, ground-breaking, educational yet entertaining programming" spiel, Paxman asked him:
"Like what? Celebrity Scissorhands? TV Moments We Love To Hate? Shopaholics? My Man Boobs and Me?"
By the time he mentioned that last one, the BBC bod couldn't deliver his statement with a straight face. I'm sorry to say they seem intent on turning the BBC into a cheap version of Channel 5.

MMF! Which option did you choose? Make a suggestion or official complain?

Hi folks,
Just thought I'd give copy a reply I have had from Auntie Beeb today. I can't open the attachments at work, but will have a look when I get home. I hope it is good news.
Dear Mr *MMF*
Thank you for your recent e-mail.
I appreciate that you are unhappy with the proposal cut the budget of the Natural History Unit.
I would like to assure you that we have registered your comments on our audience log. This is the internal report of audience feedback which we compile daily for all programme makers and commissioning executives within the BBC, and also their senior management. It ensures that your points, and all other comments we receive, are circulated and considered across the BBC.
I would also advise you read the following press release for the full proposal made by Mark Thompson:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2007/10_october/18/reform.shtml
http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbctrust/news/press_releases/2007/serving_the_public.html
Once again thank you for taking the time to contact us with your concerns.
Regards
Donal McGilloway

I got an automated reply back from P-O V saying that "my" (our) comments are going to be considered for inclusion in the next programme, and asked me to confirm my name and telephone number, today.
I'm assuming everyone else cut copied and pasted Skanky's draft and e mailed it much the same as I did, so has anyone else had a similar sort of reply?

MMF - when you get a minute maybe you'd forward a copy of your e mail to me so I can also go the same route as you, please?

Fiddler, can you let us know exactly where you sent that to? I have a whole address book full of activists waiting...

I'll have a proper peruse and probably a bit of an edit so I can get the sames points across using my words and send it tomorrow
I'm not quite as kind with idiots as you are!
But I can be icily polite, and possibly quite condescending when needs be.

MMF could you send me a copy of that e.mail please?
I can use it as a basis to send in my own complaint.

I got the same auto reply as Evadne. I didn't email them my telephone number, though, I don't think they'd call back anyway.
