Do you have any idea how hard we worked on that bid? How hard we worked on behalf of the whole community, including you?

Do you have any idea how hard it is for me personally? What I sacrificed? I mean, actually earnings, money that I didn't earn because I thought that h2g2 was worth working for, fighting for.

And then you show up in every single thread kea starts and try to derail it with your nonsense conspiracy theories.

Yes, to answer the question you asked on the thread you are attempting to derail, I know tons of things you don't know.

And I know rather a lot of things you think I don't know. For one thing, you are a lot smarter than you let on. You are a very sharp observer of human behavior. This permits you to find people's vulnerabilities. Some people who have this ability use it to help others. Some use it to rattle people's chains.

You watch a bank of security screens all day or should I say all night, don't you? For the most part you watch inmates sleep. But you are allowed access to bbc sites, and that has permitted you a social outlet.

Now, that social outlet is in danger of drying up. You have a choice. You could wallow in self-pity over it, forgetting for a moment all of us who are trying to make ends meet after having been laid off of jobs that paid like yours with a series of freelance gigs. You could ignore how well you have had it, because many people aren't allowed to surf or even make phone calls at work outside of breaks which are strictly rationed.

Here is an example of what you could do. You could use the same time that you are currently using to derail kea's threads to learn a lot about whatever topic interests you, and write an entry about it. You could actually help build the Guide to Life, the Universe, and Everything.

You could, but you don't. Is it because you are having way too much fun seeing if you can derail every single bit of work anyone in the community is doing to keep h2g2 going once the sale is complete? Is it because you figure if you can't have h2g2, then no one ought to?

That would be so dog in the manger.

look i am coming from a point of ignorance here, i have been resoundly told that when i said we had won the bid that it was a lie

so from that i can deduce that we have not won the bid, at least not yet

i dont know how many other bidders there are and i dont know who is going to win the bid.

the thread was on the subject of text speak, and how to preserve hootoos intolerance of it, i mearly pointed out that "IF" the new owners "whoever they may be" allowed text speak then we would have to abide by that decision,

telling people off continually for something they "can" do could be viewed as bullying,

if you want to discuss things covered by confidentiality agreements, i sudgest you not do it on a public forum, i don't have all the facts and everyone seems to get a bug up the ass when i playsmiley - devils advocate

smiley - bat

ps, no tellys, just me on my own, and sporadic lonely patrols for a straight 11 hours, locked in,.... we are facing cuts as well, we have the spectre of market tasting looming and beyond that privatisation, with that comes more violence.

kea ~ Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small, unregarded but very well read blue and white website

>> i mearly pointed out that "IF" the new owners "whoever they may be" allowed text speak then we would have to abide by that decision,

Actually it's more than that. It's what you've been doing all week, in multiple threads.

You think we have not power when it comes to the new owners. I don't. We've disagreed, so why keep going on about it? It's not a debate.

What you look like you are doing is attempting to stop the rest of us from discussing things in a proactive, creative way.

We want to work towards something good, and yes it's a gamble because the bbc could sell us out to someone who totally doesn't get the site. But for us it's still worth having the conversations. You keep coming along and derailing the threads with your doom and gloom. Why?

I'm not saying you can't express your opinion in those threads, or take part, but go have a reread of the noohootoo thread I started the other day and see how many posts in that thread were about you and Effers complaining about the bbc. You used that thread as your own personal dump site and it affected the ability of the rest of us to carry on. People are burntout, the community is at a low ebb. That kind of complaining just drains even more energy from the site. Do it in your journal if you must but please stop being so anti what the rest of us are trying to do.

>>> look i am coming from a point of ignorance here,

Horse spit. You are not ignorant. You know exactly what you are doing.

>>> i have been resoundly told that when i said we had won the bid that it was a lie
>>> so from that i can deduce that we have not won the bid, at least not yet
>>> i dont know how many other bidders there are and i dont know who is going to win the bid.

So you think if you keep needling us, one of us will tell you some exciting little fact? Is this what they taught you in prisoner interrogation school?

>>> the thread was on the subject of text speak, and how to preserve hootoos intolerance of it, i mearly pointed out that "IF" the new owners "whoever they may be" allowed text speak then we would have to abide by that decision,

And why, may I ask, do you think intolerance of a form of communication is something worthy of preservation? Any more than a strictly English only policy is worth pursuing? Especially considering that h2g2 didn't start out with this sort of intolerance toward non-English languages?

>>> telling people off continually for something they "can" do could be viewed as bullying,

You know what I think is bullying? What you are doing to kea. She is doing work here for the entire community, that is, she is asking them questions and compiling their responses. You on the other hand are bullying her by following her around and derailing the threads she is starting. Your obstructionism toward her efforts is a form of bullying.

>>> if you want to discuss things covered by confidentiality agreements, i sudgest you not do it on a public forum,

Is that the best you learned in prisoner interrogation school? I should have a word with your trainer.

>>> i don't have all the facts

You're right there, you don't have all the facts. You could have volunteered to work as hard as the rest of us, but you instead decided it would be more fun to "stir the pot" as you call it. Or spread rumor and innuendo, doom and gloom.

>>> and everyone seems to get a bug up the ass when i playdevil s advocate

Devil's advocate? Is that what you think you are doing? You need to look that up again, because that is decidedly not what you are doing. What you are doing is truckloads of manure in every constructive thread you can find.

>>> ps, no tellys, just me on my own, and sporadic lonely patrols for a straight 11 hours, locked in,.... we are facing cuts as well, we have the spectre of market tasting looming and beyond that privatisation, with that comes more violence.

Ah, so you must have a backup plan that doesn't involve asking any member of h2g2 for any help finding a new position. Otherwise you wouldn't be going to such a huge effort to anger us and thwart our efforts to save h2g2.

What on earth has that to with Taff's free speech? By all means criticise what he says fairly and within House Rules; I have quite a bit last night. Do you think I would bring in the subject of any donations I may or may not have made? No, I'd feel really embarassed to do it.

I've told Taff I'll ignore posts to do with ploughing that same furrow. But that has nothing to do with anything else.

When I read stuff like this it makes me really pessimistic about noohootoo. You'll have one lot of people blowing their trumpets about what they did, and use that at every opportunity.

No-one forced you to do the stuff for h2g2. It was *your choice* I feel grateful and respect for you for doing that. I don't for using it in this way with Taff.

Stick to the argument.

Effers, it is one thing for Taff to use his freedom of speech. It is his choice to whine and pout and cry and in short attempt to derail every single attempt to get something constructive done. And it is my choice to call him on every single attempt. He is spending his working hours whining about why his life can't be even more fair to him. Fine, if it is okay with his boss, it is okay with me.

He can even use his freedom of speech to needle and manipulate and try, try, try to get someone who worked on the bid to inadvertently tell him something.

But I don't have to like it. And I can use my freedom of speech to let him know.

You can use your freedom of speech as you see fit.

Thank you Effers, for all you do to help save h2g2.

Effers;England.

You're obviously wilfully missing my point. It's due to you bringing what you did purely voluntarily in an emotional blackmail type way.

If you did that to me..I'd tell you to take a running jump.

Stick to the argument.

Yes I'm using my freedom of speech.
