You have the wrong date for Satchmo's birthday.
While he liked to tell everyone that he was born on the 4th July 1900 he was actually born in August 1901 (don't know the exact date but will try to find out and let you know)
I only found out about this a few weeks ago - an ABC radio presenter is a jazz nut and said that he was going to do a special programme for Louis' Centenary - he then went on to explain the difference in dates.
Hope that you don't mind me pointing this out - I found it a great bit of trivia

According to FamousBirthdays, the 4th of August. (I'm intending to add a few of their birthdays when I get around to it) Thanx for pointing that out, though.
