I've been reading this thread, and I think it's good manners to thank Anthea for the good spirit in which she took it.

You see, I don't really like to talk about religion, but I have a cast iron, non-negotiable set of ethics. 
I'm laughing, but I'm quite serious. One of my rules is "Don't bang on my door if you're selling something". That goes for religion as well as double-glazing. And I can be very rude, sometimes, when people who aren't friends or family bang on the door, particularly if it's at dinner time, after work, and I haven't eaten yet and I'm tired...
So it was nice to hear the story from the other side, for a change. But don't take this as an invitation to convert/recruit me.

You'll bring no cake under my roof, friends get free cake. Proper Scottish Presbyterian cake.

I'd be willing to believe just about anything.... for a short period... in order to get free cake... I'm so* corruptible
