h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

There once was a time, when I came here because it was interesting. There were a lot of different people writing about a lot of different things. I miss that time. I miss the enjoyment of reading a piece of creative writing which wasn't a parable about writing more.

I miss the spontaneity there used to be* and the fun there used to be.





*We're working on that. The volunteers work very hard, you know, and when Pastey has sorted out all the bugs he inherited, he will move on to Phase Six, The Introduction of Spontaneity.

Hey, it won't be just any* old* spontanaity, its gona be spontanaity 2.0! well, so long as the FBI don't get us all first

No, because the volunteers are very busy, but if you write more, you might get a pony if we get enough advertisers.

I'm waiting for all my entrys, currently in PR, to 'get through', before I put paper to pony... err pen to paper, or finger to keyboard, even, again; I noticed yesterday we don't appear to have an entry on the Dead sea scrolls, which might be a fun one to research and write a short* history/about and I still want to finish my Pierogi entry, and my crumpet entry, and the mushy pea entry (all of which involve me figuring out how to make and cook them first, and write it up), and then I've still got the entry I want to keyboard, on Antinous Plus I'm sure I had a few other ideas for entrys I'd forgotten about err and I still need to finish the one in PR on err lactobascillus I think, I've a few things to sort out and correct and write better in that one
I never did pluck up the courage to do an entry, from my extensive and in-depth primary scientific research, into 'food sex', but I still can't figure out how to write it up... and keep within the guidelines

See? All that writing proves how busy volunteers like you are. Repeat after me the mantra: "the volunteers are very busy. It's a good point and it's on our list of things to do. We're working on it. We'll be as good as TV Tropes soon if we try hard and believe". You can breathe now.

Well KB, we'd love to have you back as a sub editor - that's where the real pressure lies at the moment.

I think none of us realised how overwhelming the amount of work actually is, on top of real life w*rk.


I can only offer this sort of though.

I've been so rubbish at doing any actual* voluenter stuff though, since the bid and everythign went through... I sort of got out of what was happening, within the voluenteers, and havne't really got back in... But have made a unconscious effort to write more entrys, whcih I've maanged, to a small extent... Every little helps... apparently

My FBI cheese mene will be spreading like wild cheese, before we know it, and everyone on the whole weird wide web will flock to h2g2 to find the source of the truth behind the FBI's plans to take over the world by taking all our cheese.... and still no one believes me.... the fools...

I like knowing this place is here, so that if I ever actually get around to writing anything, I'll have a place to put it.

Just they wait.... wehn the revolution comes, they'll be the first up against the wall.... after the polititions, of course, and the estate agents, naturally, and the traffic wardens, apparently, and the police, of course, and Mi5 Of course, and the cheese-theiving FBI, naturally, and ... well, they'll be somewhere on the list of the first few tens of thousands to be up against the wall... when the cheese revolution comes....
