My Life, My Universe and Everything Else
My Universe began at 10pm on May 18th, 1975. This, coincidentally, was also the date on which my Life began but I make a point of listing my Universe first. Actually, come to think of it, it's a little like the chicken and the egg. My Universe could not have existed without me being alive in it but, at the same time, I couldn't live if I didn't have somewhere nice and cosy to do so. I think I'll leave this arbitrary date thing in the Everything Else column for now. My Universe (and Life) started at the beginning and that which people say occurred before my beginning happened in their Universe, not mine. It could not have happened in my Universe because I wasn't alive then, and, therefore, my Universe did not exist. Again, I choose to slot history into Everything Else. People seem to get along better when they are allowed to believe that they are not, in fact, just parts of someone else's Universe. I realise that this seems conceited to some but the trick comes in realising that, in your Universe, I too am just a part of Everything Else. See...don't we all feel a little better now?
