Nick Rambles Muchly - episode 4

What is sanity?

The easiest way to answer this question is to identify insanity. People are called "insane" or "mad" if they behave or think in a different way to the majority. Therefore, sanity is merely being part of the majority. This means that in a society of people who all insist that it is fundamentally necessary not to have tuesdays, and instead have plumpdays; those who believe that it makes no real difference what the day is called, so long as it happens would be regarded as mad. This is quite obviously nonsense, and the minority are quite evidently sane. To our knowledge the name of the day makes no difference at all. From this it is inevitable to conclude that sanity is not statistical (as found in George Orwell's book Nineteen Eighty-Four), leaving the question unanswered.

Sanity, in so far as we know it, is largely defined as the ability to function in society. However, as this is relative to the society it is clearly false.

Sanity is, as far as can be shown, the ability to aquire morals, virtues and standards, and the ability to adhere to them. This being so, it is quite possible that there are no insane people on the planet.

Nick Rambles Muchly - episode 3

Isn't it strange how when you walk into a music shop you always come out feeling better than when you went in. Always assuming you buy something of course. This, I think, is because you concentrate on the good thing, that you now have more music to listen to; instead of concentrating on the loss of money. Of course, this could also be a good thing, as people who have very little money often seem to be quite happy. Obviously, the best way to remain cheerful is to not care about what is going on. Some may say this is quite callous, and so I have perfected my outlook on life so that I not only care about stuff, but do so in the knowledge that despite the fact that I care about said stuff it does not entirely matter, probably not even on a quantum level, and so if something bad happens to the stuff, it doesn't really make much difference. This means that I go through my life perfectly content to watch people around me dying of horrible epidemics, getting shot by invading armies and getting lynched by nasty men, and perfectly content to do so myself. It simply doesn't matter, and so you shouldn't worry about it. Taking this as fact, it is found that it is also possible to go through life spreading the horrible epidemic, being a member of the invading army, or lynching people. However, there is an argument against this. If one or more religions are correct (and I am inclined to believe that many of them draw largely on fact) then it is inadvisable to go around being generally unpleasant, as this could end in eternal torture in hell, or a similar place.

To conclude, music is good (I like Led Zeppelin), and you should live your life with an even balance of care-freeness, care, and above all, worship to at least three major gods.
ALL PRAISE IMHOTEP, LOKI AND JUPITER!

Thank you, and goodnight.

Nick Rambles Muchly - episode 2

HI EVERYBODY! ))hi dr. nick((

I wish. Although, as long as you don't practice medicine without a license, the UK has no law against calling yourself a doctor. Or a priest. Amazing. Amazing but true. I think that's quite good because I could go around calling myself Father Nick if I wanted to feel special. Talking of special, are you having anything nice for dinner tonight? I'm not.

Nick Rambles Muchly - episode 1

So, I am going to ramble at you. Rambling is an ambiguous word. It means to go walking or to talk endlessly and pointlessly. This actually means that I am not rambling, as I am actually typing this. Well, I once had a very odd experience involving a mentally ill person and a bus stop. I was waiting for the bus and he just strolled up and wouldn’t stop asking me if it was ok if he sat down, even once he had already sat down. He then commented on my trousers and how nice and large the pockets were. He then went on to ask me if it had back pockets. Luckily at that point the bus arrived and I didn’t have to listen to him any more. Talking of busses, don’t Polish and Russian sound very similar? In fact, in the north of Russia there are a small group of people who speak a unique language. It is the only language known to man to have a suffix for ‘smells like’. Amazing. Amazing but true.
