Also I've started my Red Scorpions.

Forge World have said:

"The basic colour for the Red Scorpions is a charcoal grey, this was made by mixing black with a smal amount of white to create this dark grey colour. The highlight was done by adding more white to the base colour and then edging the model. The yellow is a base coat of Tau Sept Ocre and the highlight is the base coat with bleached bone added."

They achieve this result: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/rsvets.htm

However, I have found that Charadon Granite (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1290212&prodId=prod810851) armour plates and Iyanden Darksun (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1290212&prodId=prod810844) trim give a result like this: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=165062 (you may have to scroll down a bit).

I have already started with the second method but have only done a pari of legs and an arm, therefore, it is not too late to change.

So, which one do you think is better?

smiley - cheers

Go with the second one. It is simpler, quicker, and produces similar results. Unless you have suddenly become an expert painter I would not advise trying to mix things. It is very hard to get the proportions right once, let alone when you want to do the next batch.

For characters I would advise taking some time to highlight them, as it makes them stand out more. Try fortress or codex grey and bad moon yellow.

For my exalted champion of Khorne I used a base of scab red, with red gore heavily drybrushed on top, and highlights of blood red. No mixing involved, and the layering effect looks good.

In Vrax 3, I see that there will be a campaign system. I think a 500pts siege campaign coud be fun. Hmmm... krieg engineers...

Time to work out a cheap krieg army methinks.
