Hiya Daffodilgold and how are you? I saw your posting on the other thread, and I thought I would just send you a welcome message.
Your daughter will be when she visits Australia and will really enjoy herself. It is a friendly, open place to visit and live.
And don't worry about her safety. As long as she doesn't go off into the deserts, or too far into the bush she will be fine....
And she will no doubt meet many other backpackers on her travels, as there are heaps here all year round. Many of them travel together in small groups, more for companionship than for safety reasons.

I can understand your concern though...I think we all worry about our kids, those of us who care at least...there are plenty of internet cafes and places like that, so she will be able to kep in regular contact....
If she is friendly and outgoing she will have a great time. How long is she staying for?

She has been in New Zealand for 9 months, and has just got a 12 month visa for Australia, although she is not sure yet how long she will actually stay for. She met a boyfriend in New Zealand (French), and they have the idea of buying a cheap camper van between them. They both have to find work as they go. He has been working as a waiter and she got a job managing the hostel she was staying in, so that worked out ok. I'm sure she'll be alright.

They will find plenty of work here I'm sure as there are jobs galore.

Spoke to my daughter this morning - she says they are going to Cairns? first.
Hello

Cairns is in far North Queensland on the coast. A very popular and beautiful place. The Great Barrier Reef is extremely popular for tourists. Here is a link for you to look at...

Hello, everything ok with you? It's raining here - don't think it's stopped for at least the last 10 days!
Am doing the coastal walk from Sennen to Lands End on Sunday with the family and our respective dogs, weather permitting!

Everything is fine D. I have just been to the supermarket to stock up on supplies for the FA Cup Final tonight...we get it live here...
Is that a long walk? It should be beautiful. I walk every day at least 5 Kms

Had a lovely day. The weather behaved - even got sunburnt - I now have a bright red nose!
Had a lovely surprise at the end of the day when my daughter told me she'd bought us tickets for the Cornish proms at the Minnack Theatre.
Do you know of the theatre? It's an out door one with the seats cut into the granite of the cliff and with the sea as the background.

I don't know the area at all as I came from the North East, but it sounds lovely. It seems funny to think of someone in England getting sunburnt.......but I can sympathise with you...
