Hey, I like coasters too. Admittedly, I am not 18: I am merely 17, but it is close.

Coaster-coasters or roller-coasters?

Awwww... I love roller coasters. Usually the faster the better, nice smooth ride. Wind in your hair as you find yourself upside down. Arms up, screaming your butt off to annoy the person sitting next to you, hopefully somebody who doesn't scream. Very fun experience...
But yeah, I'm really strange I have two drink coasters by my bed. One for my glass mug (which I use religiously, saves on me ever having to look for glasses) and one for any canned soda. (yawns) I used to have a lot of these nifty coasters with an old time 30's mobsters on them, but they weren't quite as water resistant as I had thought. Now I use some coasters I picked up for free when a restaurant in my town was throwing stuff out. Free to any passer-by, so I took em...

Nah... I don't enjoy such adrenaline rushes. I don't think I've ever put my arms up on a rollercoaster. But I've certainly screamed!
I only like them *after* I've been on them.
That is quite strange. Why were they throwing stuff out? Were they throwing free food out? Because that would have been very nice of them.
I don't personally have any coasters anywhere in my bedroom at the moment, sadly. *turns and looks* No, that's a lie; I can see two. But one of them is made of cardboard, and the other has Minnie Mouse on it...
Yeah.

Make way for new stuff is my guess... There was some broken furniture there too, but I really didn't need it...
See me, I definately like adrenaline, safe, harmless adrenaline that won't kill me in the end, hence the roller coasters. But I want to go cliff jumping (something I've written about in one of my stories, but never experienced), bunjie jumping, and sky diving. A whole lot leapin there... Can't think of any other extreme stuff, but I'm up for nearly everything in theory...

Lovechild Posted Aug 19, 2004
Hehe, I suppose that is a good way to be. Perhaps I am too much of an indoor type to require such extreme activities for adrenaline. Going outdoors at all is extremely exciting for me Heck, even getting out of bed in the morning...
What is cliff jumping? Is there a safety net out or something?

Naw, its like in Mexico, you jump off a water fall/cliff and land in the water... One of the things I've always wanted to do... Though I too am in indoor person, who doesn't exercise and considers walking fast a chore... So how I'm going to get to Mexico to cliff jump I don't know...

I thought jumping into water from a great height could kill you. The force of the surface tension and all.
Alternatively you could just nip along to your nearest swimming pool and jump off the top diving board?

"Alternatively you could just nip along to your nearest swimming pool and jump off the top diving board? "
But it wouldn't be warm tropic Mexican waters now would it... Besides, public swimming pools are a MAJOR turn off! Other ppl sweating in bathing suits, in close quarters, screaming kids, ick! Atleast in the ocean, you know where the water is going and where it has been, which is EVERYWHERE!

Lovechild Posted Aug 19, 2004
Good logic.
Why Mexico?
Actually.. which country are you presently in? I was going to ask you what the heck you were doing up at 5am - then I realised you might not be in the UK...

Cause I've watched too much 'Wild On...' its a show on the E! Network here in the US, basically featuring loads of T and A, and maybe a few tourist traps... Really anywhere will due...
What is the time difference between Eastern Standard Time and Greenwich Mean Time anyway?

Lovechild Posted Aug 19, 2004
Wow, I am feeling remarkably incorrupt today. I skimmed through your first mini paragraph there and concluded that there was lots of TEA (T, E!, and A). I was quite interested there for a second; oh well, boobies and bottoms will have to do.
Five hours. My boyfriend's in Florida, and that is how I know.

... although of course, we're not on GMT right now, we're on British Summer Time (+1), which is 5 hours off Eastern Daylight Time...

You have a boyfriend... And I thought having a girlfriend in Virginia was tough... That must be cosmically annoying? Is he an American?
Oh and British Summer Time? Is that like Daylight Savings in the US? (I have a fascination for time zones and what time it is in other countries. I think the fact its tommarrow in Australia is astounding.)

It is quite. But thanks to webcams, cheap phone calls, and the fact that neither of us spend every free moment in front of our computers, it's not as bad as it could be!
He ain't American; he is from Canada.
Yes, it is like DST - but it seems the two are not properly synchronised. Ours switches about, ooh, five days before yours, I think! It is quite interesting really, isn't it... Leads you into deep thoughts about time and such... How can tomorrow be here today? And so on.

(not bad face) See my ex-gf and I spent A LOT of time online, mostly cause we don't have much to do... So when we weren't on the phone, we were online... Even when we tried to leave things fairly open-ended, ie. "I don't mind if you hit on ppl in your state, just tell me" sort of stuff, still didn't work out...
Ha! I have some friends who are Canadian in TX. See I'm from Delaware. Long story on how I got to TX, but they're better friends then the one's I have up here. (Up being north, down being south).
As for time zones... Yes, very perplexing... It doesn't help that I like the Back to the Future movies either...

I guess you just weren't meant for each other! Though, I don't personally see how the open-relationship thing can ever be beneficial. I 'm probably just ignorant though.
We're coming up to a year of "togetherness" next Thursday. I'm in shock about this: there's another weird thing about time! The older you get, the quicker it seems to pass. It accelerates. For me, anyway.
Aha! So you're in Delaware? It took me a little bit of decoding to work that one out. I've never been to the States. I once vowed I never would, because I had a nightmare (when I was tiny) that my plane would crash in to the Atlantic.

LOL... that only happens on Alannis Morisette songs. I've flown dozens of times, the only thing you really have to worry about is being caught in a bookstore during a layover. (Impulse buying) OR possibly missing your flight, which doesn't happen if you leave 2 hrs before your flight. OR possibly being charged an arm and leg for airport food... But plane crashes naw... Besides if it does crash over the Atlantic, you're pretty screwed anyway...
A yeah, eh. I've been friends (and other things) with my ex-gf on-and-off... But since the summer is soo boring and neither of have gotten jobs yet, and college hasn't started, we don't have much to talk about...
Oh, I'm the only DE researcher on H2G2!

Lovechild Posted Aug 19, 2004
Heh - it's not flying I'm scared of, just the Transatlantic journey! I have flown long, long journeys, and many, many a time: mostly to South East Asia as we have family there. I don't know why the Atlantic worries me so.
So what countries have you visited?
You should go for a really long walk on your own, or do crazy things in the street with friends - that always makes for something to talk about!
See, I went busking yesterday. Although, I haven't really told anyone about that, because I was so tired afterwards that I went straight to bed
BTW, I realised soon after I posted it - it's not a year, it's 11 months.
