Hey there! I notice you've had to curtail the hootooing a bit (and don't think I haven't missed you!). Just wanted to drop by and say hey, inquire after your health and well-being and that of your family, and wish you well.

Oh, and I'll be posting the two Thai Beat CDs this Saturday, so you should see them within a week and a half or so. Hope you'll enjoy them! smiley - smiley

Drop a message or email when you can, and take care of yourself!

So, have you had a chance to give the Thai Beats a listen? If so, whaddya think?

Lemme know if there's anything else in particular you'd like, if we've got it, it's yours. And when we both have our finances sorted, I'd be glad to help you with your jeans. smiley - smiley

I figured you'd appreciate that, if anyone would. smiley - winkeye

So how's things at Bonobo Central? I'd replied to your email when you got back, didn't know if you'd received it or not. Thanks for the photo of a handsome young man I assume is your little one? He's absolutely adorable!

Yes, he is, isn't he! Although last night he was a grumpy wee bugger.

Sorry...busy busy busy and haven't checked my gmail in ages.

And smiley - blush I still have the Thai Beats on my desk. I keep forgetting to either take the disks home or put them in my work PC.

Hey, no worries. I've been busy busy busy, too, and have less skivving off time at work now- almost none, to be exact. And the staffing agency I'm with has a "no internet" policy which I'm trying to adhere to, just to be safe.

Whenever you get the CDs home, lemme know what you think.

Kids his age do get cranky from time to time, don't they! But he's definitely adorable. Thanks a bunch for sharing the photo. smiley - smiley

smiley - biggrin Amaaaaazing stuff! smiley - biggrin The most fun I've had with a CD in ages. If Dick Dale were to meet Col. Kurtz in a Bangkok hotel lounge, this is what the house band would be playing. smiley - biggrin

Thankyouthankyouthankyou for that. I think I'll send a copy to BBC R3's Andy Kershaw. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio3/andykershaw/ It's his kind of thing.

You can't fault an album that features both a Kinks riff and a cover (sort of) of Louie Louie.

Glad you liked 'em! I'll look forward to the Andy Kershaw.

When do you get your surgery done?

Thursday 9th, 2pm BST. I can't wait! I could do with the rest.

I can imagine. I sometimes wish, if I had medical insurance, that I could get my injured foot fixed. It'd get rid of a major source of discomfort, and would also get me some time off working. smiley - winkeye

It's still a little over a week before you go, though. So I won't start worrying just yet...

Got a few more intriguing CDs for K's birthday, which was yesterday. One of the ones I got him is some mid-60s through early 70s Turkish pop/rock stuff. It's certainly interesting. I'm trying to get something weird from every majoy country in the word, it seems.

Well, enjoy your weekend!

Wellll...if you're wanting weird Turkish pop...one of their most popular singers ever was a transvestite called Zeki Muren.

I acquired quite a selection of random Turkish stuff on a holiday there. Unfortunately, most on obsolete cassettes.

btw...I'm not the least bit worried about my op. I have few squeams. One time, I had to have a tooth taken out sideways, involving an incision and peeling back of the gum. I was fine...but the nurse fainted!

I don't have too many squeams, either, so I can understand why you wouldn't be too nervous. (What freaks me out is general anaesthesia, but that's another matter entirely...) I hope it goes smoothly, though, and you'll recover full use of your wrist/hand in no time.

I assume you'll be taking some recovery time off work- how much time did your boss allow you? Hopefully it won't set you guys back too much.

Oh, and I'll dig around in search of that Turkish stuff you'd mentioned. Lemme know if you want a copy of this one I got for K. It seems to be going over well with his friends, and he absolutely loves it.

Is it Tarkan, by any chance? 'The Turkish Bruce Springsteen'

Yo!

Post 16

I've checked the track listing, and there's no Tarkan. This one is called "Hava Narghile" (amusing play on words there), and contains 22 tracks by various artists. It's pretty cool! smiley - smiley

Edward the Bonobo - Gone.

We were clearing out my father-in-law's attic at the weekend, and I unearthed some of my vinyl that's been hiding up there. With a lot of it, it's 'Jaysus! What was I thinking of when I bought that?' (For example...why yould anyone want a Thompson Twins album?) I've decided to adjust my attitude to material possesions and get rid of most of it, keeping only syuff that a) would be impossible to replace on CD or mp3, b) has sentimental value or c) has 'iconic' status (eg Pyschocandy, my Smiths albums).

Amongst the gems are The Wedding Present's 'Ukranski Vistupi v Ivana Pila 10" ep (John Peel Ukranian Sessions), and a treasured album from Lesotho in the Globstyle label's series, 'Accordions That Shook The World'

But I don't think it's going to be easy to do a triage of my books smiley - sadface

Likewise. I've sold a good deal of the effluvia, and we've gotten a good $250 or $300 for it thus far. Of course, I keep buying new stuff to replace the stuff I've gotten rid of. smiley - erm

So, how's the wrist healing up? Aside from your posting on the "DVD" thread this morning, I haven't seen you around much and I was hoping you're not too sore or itchy. Plus I've kinda missed hearing from you here and there.

Been checking out your Flaming Pie site, and I'm loving it. I'm gonna try all of those recipes, at some point! smiley - cool

So, drop aline when you can, and I'll look forward to seeing you on the forum or Atheist Fundamentalists, etc. Hang tight!

PS- I've just had the pleasure of (at last) reading your "Effluvia" entry in the EG. What a well-researched and well-written piece! I thoroughly enjoyed it. 'Twas the best 30 minutes I've spent so far today. smiley - cheers
