So, you've inspired me to track down the six Vonnegut books I didn't previously own and have never read (Timequake, Deadeye Dick, Bagombo Snuff Box, Sirens of Titan, Bluebeard and Slapstick). And to re-read your fantastic guide entry.
I'm reading "Timequake" while I wait for the rest to arrive. Which would you recommend I read next?
(Re-read "Breakfast of Champions" last week)

Definitely 'Sirens'. The others are 'lesser works'.

Excellent. "Sirens" it is.
I noticed you're chatting with someone about "The God Delusion". I read that several weeks ago. I enjoyed it for the most part, but *something* was a bit amiss... he seemed convincing as to why religion is unneccessary, or illogical, but seemed to excuse the propensity toward magical thinking, if you know what I mean?
Nor do I want to butt into that thread not knowing what it was I felt was lacking... five years at this site and I still always feel like I'm intruding whenever I contribute to a thread.

Well maybe there *is* a propensity towards magical thinking...part of our biology that can, fortunately, be overridden by more useful ways of thinking.

I agree, or at least I hope that's the case.
Thanks for all of your insights at the thread I started over the weekend at the Atheist Fundamentalism page. The god-botherers in the family are really grating on me.
Key: Complain about this post
