Intrigued by your tagline (are you still changing those when people figure them out? If so, this doesn't really count, does it?), I had to ask if you've actually read "Lunar Park", and if so, is it any good?

I have mixed feelings about "American Psycho", and can't remember what the other book was of his that I've read. But "Lunar Park" sounds interesting, and I've been debating checking it out of the library and having a go at it.

Damn! I'm having difficulty thinking up a good tagline.

American Psycho...I think it's a brilliant book...but I seldom recommend it. During the Lady Chatterly's Lover obscenity trial, there was an attempt to prove that it fitted the legal definition of obscenity '...tending to deprave and corrupt.' A crusty Oxford professor was wheeled out for the prosecution and swore on oath that he was a worse person for having read it. And that's kinda how I felt. There are all those scenes which are written as conventional porno. but just at the moment of (ahem) maximum arousal, they turn into a slasherfest...so you're reading all this horrible stuff with a hard on. Damn clever writing.

Lunar Park...the first half has many moments of brilliance, but I was disappointed over all. Sure, it's worth a read.

John Mortimer, the lawyer and writer, defined obscenity as 'Anything that can give an elderly judge an erection.'

I found "American Psycho" to be a bit upsetting in some parts, but I also realize I have kind of a different perspective. I'm kind of touchy about certain things... splatter normally ain't it, but that book read in some places like a DYI manual. It creeped me out somewhat.

Maybe I'll check out the library for "Lunar Park", then. I won't bother investing any money in purchasing it, though.

Edward the Bonobo - Gone.

Far less splattery - and fewer paeans to Genesis.
