Read your ramblings (just click on the blue names for each posting) and felt a certain sympathy. I too am fairly new and still finding my way around. 
I think the answer is to go for it and react to the response which is generally straightforward and swift. Provided one sticks to the rules, it can't really hurt anyone what you submit.

oh, I am type of person who takes her time to find her way round, since I cannot spent too much time at the computer (and don't want to, since there are more things to live than a machine).
But I like the site here, people are nice and helpful
