Namely http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/F15787896?thread=7215399&skip=420&show=1 I would thank you to heed the advice you have been given by MMF, and not attempt to throw it back in his face in such a pathetic and childish manner. What you have posted there is an insult to a respected member of the community and a friend of mine, and an attempt to retract your own views which is frankly entirely transparent. If you are going to come on this site and act in such a xenophobic and base manner (and I note it is not the first time you have been accused of this), at least have the courage to admit to it rather than hiding behind bluffness and retaliation. I think this posting warrants either a retraction or apology to MMF. I doubt I am the only person who agrees entirely with what he said, and thinks you are being quite arrogant hijacking the thread of a meet-up which you didn't attend for your own immature agenda. If you intend to make jokes, I would suggest you first ensure you are capable of doing so without causing offence. And there's no such word as 'pompousness'. It's 'pomposity'. B

You know nothing about me and my reasons (work related fore not being able to attend at short notice. Your arrogance in defence of your friend is astounding, but tolerated because of seeming ignorance. perhaps you would have been happier if I had added (sic) at the end of pompousness (sic)

Surely anyone with a modicom of intelligence would see a reference to the death of Admiral Lord Nelson nearly 200 years ago is a smiley - tongueincheek reference smiley - rolleyes along with the rest of the ridiculous stereotyping. I really thought I was dealing with adults here, not the dogmatic self righteous.

Dost thou think, just because thou art pious, there shall be no more cakes and ale?

Want to play mind games? Then please continue. Otherwise please feel free to ignore me, I shall respect you with the same degree of concern, or not smiley - winkeye

I don't think anyone saw a cunningly veiled reference in what you were writing. I could say all kinds of things and then later pretend that they were intellectual allegories and I'm amazed no-one understood the reference. It astounds me that you are the only person on that thread who was under the impression that you were making some sort of joke.

And then you resort to self-defence by calling the rest of us arrogant and stupid. You sound like a 13-year-old.

Get a life and some insight Mu, everyone else has moved on, thankfully. The pathetic moral and emotional blackmail you are attempting to apply can be very dangerous and probably won't work anyway. Must try harder - you're boring me now smiley - laugh

Thanks for your limited input, I actually thought you may capable of putting up more of a challenge, though I do have better things to do.

You were to your credit, briefly, mildly entertaining. Hence the smiley - laugh

Bye now and thanks for all the fish. So easy to reel in smiley - winkeye
