Long time no etc.
I'll have to ask your advice on how to get Ubuntu showing the right size desktop on my wife's netbook. It hangs off down the bottom a good (virtual) inch and changing display settings doesn't solve it.

Hey 
I remember a similar thing happening to me with Ubuntu (or one of it' variants) a while ago, I can't remember how I fixed it though. I seem to remember it involved messing around with the terminal and editing the config files.
I don't currently have Ubuntu installed on anything (only got my netbook with me atm) and all I could find was this, http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1136113, but I honestly have no idea how to help, sorry!
