><> The problem with personal homepages is that you have to put an effort into them that would be better directed elsewhere. For example: I'm a second-year graduate student with a giant paper due this Thursday. So of course I'm writing this instead.
I blame Douglas Adams. He seems a convenient enough target, and not just because his name's plastered all over the site. The man has warped me. By the time I turned eleven, I read the whole of the Trilogy, even the ones that hadn't been published yet, and then I started writing about spaceships and little green men with stumpy legs. I don't write much science fiction these days, of course, because they don't let you do that in graduate level English programs--some snooty notion or other that it's a b*****d genre with no aesthetic value and few genuinely talented people writing in it, though no one mentions the number of academics who die of heart failure upon seeing the relative sales figures for such books compared to that of their own novels, which tend to be long, dreary stories about people standing round looking at trees while their marriages fall apart--but my frame of reference remains permanently skewed. You wouldn't believe the number of enormous, fluffy towels I have in my linen closet. I think the evidence speaks for itself.
Anyway, welcome. If you're looking for useful information, it's not on this page. This is ego gratification. I'll bet there's no one even reading this. I could start typing swearwords and hear nary a peep. That's the wonderful thing about the internet--lots of space to shoot off at the mouth and no backtalk from anyone. Ahhh. ><>
