Thankyou,
According to the report it was a pretty even game but Darlo's keeper Sam Russell made a few good saves to keep them in the game.A typical end of season contest, both teams in mid table.I've just realised our keepers surname,no chance of your place being named after him is there?.

Just to remind you about the Liverpool/Chelsea return leg tonight, kick off 8.00pm over here.I'm looking for a Liverpool victory to take them through to the final.
You were spot on with those co-ordinates, thats my street
I think it's Milan/Man. Utd tomorrow night,Come on Milan.

I'm afraid we can't lay claim to that much football fanaticism in the U.S. just yet that we would rename a town after a player but I think I'll start spreading the rumor we did just to stir up some mud!
Thank you for the reminders. They will delay the public show here until tomorrow afternoon, so they can charge for the live version on pay-per-view TV. I'm going to have to go into black-out mode so I don't learn the results before hand! Todays chant: Liverpool and Milan, Liverpool and Milan, Liverpool and Milan....
Excellent, now we've both seen each other's neighborhoods, sort of!

By now you should know the Liverpool/Chelsea result, good one. I know the outcome of the Milan/ Man.Utd. game and my mate threatened to inform you, but he was having a laugh,I think. He does'nt like football and he thinks nobody else should. I said to him if you let the score slip I'll never forgive you, but it was just a laugh.
I hope everything goes okay when you start your new job,(is it next week?),45 minutes travelling which way,north/south/east or west.I'm sure it will be fine.I've got a 30 minute drive to my work place but I car share with a work colleague and only use the car once a month.
Youll be getting ready for the match shortly, hope you and your son enjoy it, I'm off on the school run now to pick up the kids.
Catch you later.

ATinyDistantVoice Posted May 4, 2007
Not only a good result, but an excellent game! No hard feelings on the threat to inform me, I would have done the same! But still, tell him I said !
I was never a sports person myself. I suppose exposure year after year to football through my son finally just seeped in. It's the only sport I watch with enthusiasm.
Yes, next week. It is southeast of here. I hope to find a car-pool once I settle in since it is a very large company. That will make the trip easier.
And another excellent result with the Man-U Milan game, I think. Man-U certainly didn't play well at all right from the start. I don't know what their strategy was, but it was weak.

Oh, and I forgot - I have another poem in the Post this week that you might like, if you haven't come across it. It's here: A22223729.
But I have a much better one coming out in the next edition, at least I hope they put it there. It's a good one, funny, and entirely true, eveery word, I swear.
Well, I'm off myself now, many errands to accomplish before I begin work Monday. And the Mrs. hits her 50th next week, I had better make sure I find some suitable presents!

Just to say good luck for Monday, hope everything goes okay. Both of us really liked the poem, let me know the day the wife's 50 so I can send her our regards. I'm off to see the daughter, she's just come back from Florida.

I bet you've had a busy day,I hope you have'nt encountered anything you can't overcome.I hope when you got home after the first day your thoughts were not "oh no what have I got myself into".I really dont think that was the case. The vibes dont say that.I realise you might not have the time to write as in the past, but thats alright I'll be here.Get yourself settled in then tell me all about it.I hope your wife has a great 50th birthday,my wife and I send our best wishes and just to say life is great, we know we've been there.Keep in touch.

Thanks for the great support!
Yes, the last two days have flown past. The job is right up my alley, as a technical writer. The business end I'm a bit rusty on and I'm neck deep in information and trying to retain it all.
I do like it though, the people are friendly and not expecting me to pull rabbits out of my hat just yet. The company is so large I spend some of my time just trying to find my way back to my desk. So very different from what I have been in for the last nine years.
I will pass on your well-wishes to my wife. We've postponed her party for a couple of weeks until we can get the family together. I still need to go shopping to get her something nice!
Oh, and I had another picture accepted for one of the h2g2 articles. You should take a look, I think it will give you a chuckle. It's at A18532532.
Well, I better get myself prepared for tomorrow. Prepare a lunch and get my clothes out so I don't have to think in the morning!

The man with the hand in the pan,It's great.I'm pleased for you, you sound very happy and optimistic about it all. I'ts always a little bit scary starting a new job, going into some what unknown territory.I always think if you take a few moments every now and then just to reflect, more often than not what seems like a mountain ahead turns out to be a mole hill.Who knows, in a years time you may be signed up on a permanent contract and the rest of your working life will be plain sailing.
Is the family spread out a lot then, will they be coming from far and wide to celebrate your wife's birthday?.
How's your son doing with his goalkeeping, has he got any big matches coming up?.
I'm going to put the kettle on and have a , I've just come in from the pub. Been out with a friend from work for a few drinks and a laugh.
Will write to you soon, keep on enjoying it.

Yes, I'm rather proud I thought of it. I've become quite adept at graphic manipulation when it's fun.
I did have some butterflies in my stomach the day before I started the new job, but I've been through so much in my life that it really takes a lot to scare me these days. You have it spot-on, about the mountain/mole hill thing.
My wife's family is mostly close by, but her mother has already scheduled a trip to Vermont for mothers day to be with her own mother, who by the way is 101 years old! Looks like if DNA is a factor, I'll be the first to go around here!
My son's spring soccer team is doing great, only lost one game so far. I suspect they will make it to the western Massachusetts finals again this year. However, there are a few more games to go yet. Did I mention yet that he's heading to Ireland for a tournament in July/August? He's excited about that I can tell you!
I'm just winding down with a glass of wine, and then it's off to bed. One more day of deep thought to go then I can sleep a little later!
Enjoy your !

Well what's it feel like after your first week?.You'll have a pretty good idea what's expected from you,I hope it does'nt put you off.Nothing much going on over here, although our Prime Minister has announced his stepping down (for want of a better way of saying it)date.I'm not into politics anyway, you can learn more from a three minute record than anything politicians say.I'm reading a book at the moment called THE UNQUIET by John Connolly, how weird is this. The last chapter was in Massachusetts, one of the characters is called Russell and the main character is on his way to Vermont to meet up with his estranged wife. All places which either you or I have mentioned at some point.
Thats some age 101 is'nt it?, you'll have to get the secret. Tell your wife when she visits to write it down and we'll all have some. I'd like to think it was alcohol because it's easy medicine to swallow, but i rather think not.Must be the atmosphere in Vermont.
We've just paid the balance for our holiday in AMERICA IN sEPTEMBER i think i'll have to lie down and recuperate a while, but i dont care it will be worth it i'm sure.My daughter brought me some BOSE headphones back from Florida at a cost of £66 pounds, over hear they would have cost me £140 pounds, you cant believe it can you?.
Here's something i saw in the paper thats amusing.
FUNNY SCRABBLE.
Someone out there either has too much spare time or is deadly at Scrabble.
Dormitory-dirty room.
Presbyterian-best in prayer.
Astronomer:moon starer.
The eyes:they see.
The morse code:here come dots.
Slot machines:cash lost in me
Election results:lies, lets recount.
Snooze alarms:alas, no more zs.
A decimal point:Im a dot in place.
The earthquakes:that queer shake.
Eleven plus two:twelve plus one.
And for the grand finale.
Mother-in-law:woman Hitler.
I'm boggle eyed after that but it's something you can pass on.
Keep in touch

Helllloooooooooooo Pal-ladin!
Don't pay the ransom, I got away!
I am just tickled pink with the job so far, thanks! The people are great. There are some hints that the workload is about to increase to enormous levels but I'm not worried about that. When I left the medical field, nothing ever seemed worse than the pressure of keeping your charges alive. And as an independant business man, I worked 60 to 80 hours a week to make sure the company was sound, so I'm used to a heavy workload (Besides which, currently I'm on an hourly contract and 80 hours would be quite a paycheck). They are happy with my performance so far and even told me that they intend to hire me full as a full time employee down the road. It's funny really, that I'm working as a technical writer. In school I hated English class, learning sentence structure and all. If someone asked me today what a preposition I would say it's what young men do to young women in night clubs.
I'd gotten used to extra time with my sons though, and am sorry to see that reduced. Such is life, those birds are nearly ready to fly the nest anyway.
The coincidences in the book are quite startling. I guess it means you need to go see it all, eh?
I'm not sure I want to hit the century mark myself, but it wouldn't be bad as long as I've got my wits (which she certainly does) and the family still around me (which she also does). Yes, she has had a bit of luck there. I suppose it's in the DNA, and maybe my boys will be so lucky too.
I'm going to have to consider my time off vacation and work the rest of the year as much as possible, I suspect to make up any bills coming due but I still plan to take my week in New York with the gang. I'm the cook and comedy relief, and they've told me last year was dismal without me.
66 pounds for headphones? They must be aircraft sound deadening quality! You'll love using them I'm sure. BOSE makes some great products. I've been hearing that the dollar to euro ratio is going to send lots of european tourists this way. You better come with empty suitcases and fill them while you're here.
Those are anagrams, yes? I'm especially enamored with the mother in law one!
Today we finally have my wife's birthday party so I suppose I should get dressed and clean up the place a bit. I think I mentioned my newest poem was coming out and so it has. please go read it, it's a true story about my youth and you'll laugh. It's at A22710421 and I hope you like it!
Have a great weekend!

Now look, if you had mentioned my name ie(Palladin)at the start I could have had the ransom money in no time and I would have got you out of there no problem. If anybody asked questions like, "who are you and what are you doin here", I would have said,"I'm the man with the money and everybody has got to be somewhere right". Do you think that would have worked?.
When is your week in New York, we could be closer than we thought and not know it if it coincides with my holiday. If I thought we were just a few hours apart and missed each other for no other reason than a bus ride or something i'd be more than just annoyed. We are flying from New York to Niagra Falls and back again the same day to save time but I would give that a miss to meet you.Never mind it might happen in the future, you never know.
We read your poem and it's great, I dont know how you can do that but keep it up I like them and my friend and work colleague also likes them.
I hope the celebrations are a success, tell your wife from us many happy returns on her 50th. We celebrated ours together, there's only 4 days between our birthdays, we are the same age.
The FA cup final has come and gone,Saturday 19th and Chelsea beat Man. Utd 1-0, yippee.
When you mentioned the medical field what was your standing there?.
It sounds like you might have a job for life there, lets hope so, not only will you have peace of mind but you can plan for the future to a certain degree which makes everybody feel happy and confident.
I'snt life great really?.
Hope to here from you soon
Palladin.

Be careful, Palladin, you're making too much sense.
I'll be in New York November 10 to November 17. Up in the Adirondack mountains, there is often a good layer of snow by then. When do you plan to be in New York? I'd hate to have you change your plans. Maybe I can get the wife to agree to a trip to Niagra falls and meet you there!
Thanks on the poem! I have been reading the poetry in the Post and it's all so dark! I'm thinking I should try to put something light together regularly for them.
The birthday celebrations were quite relaxing. I grilled our dinner and we had a few glasses of wine. Only a few visitors. Perfect. Thanks from the Misses for the well-wishes!
Yes Chelsea beat Man U but Milan beat Liverpool BOOOOO!
About the medical stuff, I worked in an animal hospital for 12 years. I had many jobs, but at the end I was a surgical OR technician and x-ray technician. That's how I was able to guess what your rotty's surgery was for. We were famous in the U.S. for our orthopedic work, especially spinal laminectomies which restored paralyzed dogs to near normal when the circumstances were right. I set more broken bones and put on more casts than most doctors see in their life.
I am hoping that this new job is the last, and so far it's looking good. I don't want to jinx it though! It's just what I need. Some day I'll tell you the story behind it all. It's quite a tale.
Well, off I go now, but we'll chat again soon!

Hello,
Making too much sense, my wife never thinks like that.
Is everybody okay over there?. Sorry it's taken so long to write.
You'll be havin a few drinks I'll bet being as it's Saturday night, just chilling out.I'm at work right now but I'll be finished Monday morning for a week, then I'll have to do some real work (in the house).
I've been looking at the Palladin click here, you've updated it.I have'nt mastered that particular phase of computering yet, but my daughter's partner is going to sort that out soon. He's a computer whizz kid. When I've mastered it I will send you some pictures of our dog Stella etc.
I listened to some of the music from your son's cd, it's too heavy for me but I wish them luck all the same.
Is that your e-mail address on there?.
We fly into New York on the 26th of September and will be there till Sunday 30th of March, which is our anniversary. On that day we will be flying to Orlando and spending a week or so touring and arriving back in the U.K on October the 11th.Still I'm sure to find an internet cafe on my travels.
Amazing work you were doing for the animals, I bet you got a lot of satisfaction a lot of the time working there.
It'll be cold up in the Adirondacks in November, what's the accommodation like, it wont be tents etc will it?.
It's 0100hrs here and time I was signing off, take care and we'll speak again soon.

Hello Pal-ladin!
Yes, everything is fine, except there's too much of it!
By the time I get home and dinner done and pets taken care of, it's often late, and I run out of gas!
Saturday night found us at the dinner after volunteering at a successful fund-raising golf tournament for a cancer victim assistance organization. Well fed and a few drinks didn't hurt.
Yes, I've updated the site a bit. My sons final soccer scores for one. The team made it to the "Massachusetts tournament of champions". Three days of games at the University of Massachusetts in a couple of weeks.
I've done a lot of web site maintenance over the years, it's second nature now. Not that hard in some ways, but it helps to understand the skeleton behind it all.
I admit that heavy metal is not my idea of rest and relaxation either, but I remember how our music was thought of by our elders, and figure it's not right to judge. And the boys really do have talent, when I hear them do other genres. We lost power the other night so to kill some time my older son and I played our acoustic guitars together. I hope he remembers those sort of things when I'm gone.
That is my email, and feel free to send me correspondence any time!
Say, I've got an official j2g2 photographers badge now! I've got 5 photos applied. I also have another poem submitted that should give you a chuckle when it comes out. Keep an eye peeled.
Freudian slip? You mentioned being in NY September to March! Let's check our schedules closer on. Perhaps we can cross paths. If not, there's always next time. Maybe someday my wife and I will tour the UK. She went to London once, had a great time. I've never been.
Well, I've spent my lunch hour, better get on.
Keep those mesages coming!

It's just struck me!
We're having a birthday party for my youngest son. He'll be 16 Sunday! He gets his driving permit to start learning. Lord help us all!

Ah now then, you know what's going to happen. It'll be dad can you lend me 10 dollars, dad the car needs petrol, dad can I borrow the car on Sunday. Your not going to get any peace. Hey you have a good time celebrating his birthday,I had nothing to do with driving until 1980.It was the job I had at the time that determined driving would be an asset. You tell your son that we wish him a happy birthday and we hope he gets everything he hoped for. I wish i was there to shake his hand.
I know what you mean about running out of gas, I'm the same although it's not so bad for me, I get every other week off.Yes it was an error on my be half about the dates we would be in America, that's what happens when you write letters at 0100hrs in the morning.Never mind, I've just come in after being out with a friend of mine from work, we've had a laugh.I tell you this, we were escorted from a pub because my friend was caught on camera smoking in the toilets. A smoking ban anywhere has been enforced in England from July 1st but some places have enforced it already.I stopped smoking on the 1st of January and so far everything is going okay.I'll sign off now, have a good day Sunday, talk soon
