Well, you see Timmy......
Okay, that sounded condescending even to me. Sorry.
This is from In the End, by Linkin Park:
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
This is from Crawling:
crawling in my skin
these wounds they will not heal
fear is how I fall
confusing confusing what is real
And finally, this is from Numb:
there's something inside me that pulls beneath the surface
consuming/confusing what is real
this lack of self-control I fear is never ending
controlling/confusing what is real
I've
Become so numb
I can't feel you there
Become so tired
So much more aware
I'm becoming this
All I want to do
Is be more like me
And be less like you
Can't you see that you're smothering me
Holding too tightly
Afraid to lose control
'Cause everything that you thought I would be
Has fallen apart right in front of you
[Caught in the undertow, just caught in the undertow]
Every step that I take is
Another mistake to you
[Caught in the undertow, just caught in the undertow]
And every second I waste
Is more than I can take
And I know
I may end up failing too
But I know
You were just like me
With someone disappointed in you
So for someone like me, with extremely eclectic tastes in music, and going through my current depression, this music is very fitting, with great melodies, strong bass lines, and lyrics that don't offend, even when they get their point across.
So that's why I like Linkin Park. Please don't make fun of me for it. If you're going to make fun of me, make fun of me because I like Spice Girls, or Backstreet Boys, or John Denver. And because I want to be a teacher.
No hard feelings?

No, I just try to find out what the appeal is...I had Hybrid Theory a couple years back and loved it (damn, now you know my deepest most shameful secret), since then I got into different music, more classic rock and doom...now they represent the antithesis of everything I hold to be good about music.

Its okay to like Linkin Park. Its okay to like whoever you want. There is nothing shameful about it. Personally, I feel ashamed if I learn that someone close to me, say, a friend or loved one, DOESN'T like music at all. I mean, what's up with that?!!! How can you not like music at all?!
It's sort of like the reaction I had one day at work: I mentioned something about my library card, and a co-worker said she didn't even have a library card, and several people said they didn't have library cards either. I was so shocked that I literally was speechless!
And of course, then there are those people I won't even hang out with, whom I refer to as music snobs, who only like things like Opera, and look down on all other forms of music.
I'm not saying that every form of music is for everyone. I personally am not fond of rap, or found of country. But even in those two forms, I have some songs that I love.
So, like what you like. Screw everybody else.

It's like Lester Bangs said: "There's no one who hates music more than the hardcore music fan", or something to that effect.
Key: Complain about this post
