OUCH!

Post 1

Ancient Brit

Seeing as you don't want me in Ouch!. I will approach you from more familiar territory.
I got into Ouch! through the back door simply because someone had approached me here on h2g2. If I want to know more about who I am talking to, I go to their space. In that way I may not upset anyone.
I totally respect your privacy but I have been with h2g2 since before they were taken over by the BBC. There was a lot of talk at that time about how h2g2 would end up. In the end BBC 'Talk' sites are basically linked together through the DNA Hub(DNA is a 'talk' language that came out of h2g2 and has been adapted by the BBC). I believe that these sites should be totally independent, conversations in one should not be automatically linked to another. If that had been the case I would not have inadvertently stumbled into Ouch !
I have been here before and as a result finished up in trouble. A sort of curiosity killing the cat. Do you know if Ouch! conversations are thrown up on any other of the BBC 'talk' sites?

Ancient Brit,

Just for confirmation; no one has told you you are not welcome to Ouch, however:

It's a bit rude to use the disabled messageboards with no intentions to actually using them. Many people on the boards have held a distaste for people using us as guinea pigs - the boards are not your testing grounds either.

Ouch is a place for disabled people/carers/parents etc. to be able to post in a secure environment without having to be bashed upon by the medical models of disability. Shamefully many people do not understand the social model and usually do come to abuse others in the real world.

Because of this, people don't like others 'invading' or not contributing to the site, as it can be violating our 'right' to have a secure environment with other disabled people/carers/parents etc.

Further on, some of your comments WERE quite harrassing:

"Ouch! is just playground."
"Is any 'open internet site' in the realms of the BBC free from internet grafiti ?"

Some users DO have mental health disablements (even I myself have Aspergers Syndrome), so it is entirely possible that you may receive 'inappropiate' responses.
Your comments however were VERY inappropiate (for someone with as far as I'm aware, a healthy mind) and I hope that you can understand why some people may have responded to you in the way that came.

Hopefully you've recovered from the situation, and that you can be more decent should you wish to return to Ouch. For now, let's settle with cake! smiley - cake

Can I point out to you that you and batsgirl responded to my post on Ouch!. Yours , post 2. was just an invitation to leave, in a sarcastic/fun sort of way. Post 3 by batsgirl I took to be a come and join us, we've got one here sort of response. It happens in chat rooms. Please forgive me if I get the wrong impression.
If post 2 had been a nice straight reprimand with a nudge in the right direction, no problem.
If you want to talk about ethics then I should point out to you that you have jumed into the Message Centre in myrtlemaid's Personal Space without so much as 'by your leave'
It would help if you put some information, by way of introduction, into your own Personal Space on h2g2.

I'll say it again Ancient Brit;

Some people DO have mental health disablements - if you come onto a disability board, you SHOULD expect some of these behaviors.

I told you that h2g2 is the other direction because your post was, tbh, very "troll" worthy and had NO relation to disability in any shape or form, but rather to use our boards as a testing ground.
Socially that is unacceptable and you should be aware that people WILL react in a specific manner if you do these things.

Shamefully you seem to be wanting to continue to post within the boards as an argumentative person, and seeking to further stir the issue. This might not be the case, but I will ask that unless you DO have something to contribute to ouch as an individual rather then using us as guinea pigs, could you please NOT post within those boards?

It's just a bit of politeness.

Also, NOTHING is private unless a person sets it up as private - therefore, a user has every 'right' to post within a messageboard unless it controvenes the House Rules, or if there are settings which disallow access to a specific part of the site.

Now have somne more cake. smiley - cake

You really did ought to back off.
I've got the message. 'You' can say or do what you like but others have to play to the rules.

Im not sure why this message was addressed to me..

I didnt think there was anything in my message which suggested you werent welcome on OUCH..

I simply pointed out that the "talk " section of Ouch was for On Topic discussions and yours would have been better sited in Cane and Able.

Im not sure if I'm supposed to know who you are, or were before but if I am supposed to I dont..

ah well no doubt it'll all come out in the wash.

You were the third member from Ouch! to contact me, the nature of the other other two members posts lead me to believe they 'vandals'. You obviously didn't want me talking on !Ouch so I put this message in your personal h2g2 space to offer you some explanation. I am fast coming of the conclusion that I am not having much success.
I suspect that you are doing pretty much as I did in reverse. You will note that my posts to this thread do not show up on the Ouch!. However for some reason yours seem to.

HI warner am I glad to see you.
I'll talk to you about anything you like even money smiley - smiley
I went to your space to find out a bit about you, clicked on a few of your conversations and finished up here in !Ouch.
I went through this exercise some years ago when h2g2 was first taken over by the BBC and new sites were being moved over to the h2g2 DNA power house. My addled old brain had to go back and think what was going on.
You are used to working two possibly more sites, I'm an h2g2 stalwart and automatically assume that I am h2g2 territory. What a cock up. I've recorded my experience at the end of this entry

Sorry it's right at the end of this entry - A896097

Have a laugh and here is me getting on to you about ethics.
Sorry if this has troubled myrtlemaid in any way. Pleased to see that you acknowledged her when you came in.
Can't feel too much sympathy for the over zealous 'bull dogs'however, FacepunchRider in particular has hounded me back to h2g2.
Perhaps you could call them off there's a good chap.

This little saga might throw some light on the nature of message that I put into your space. smiley - ok

Ancient Brit,

Overzealous is inpolite when I've only given you MY stance over how it is - you should respect that stance either way and not resort to petty responses such as that. smiley - smiley

Good luck, but please try and keep it civil without the NEED to go into name calling.

FacepunchRider - I will post on open line in your space if you must go on.

myrtlemaid - I am so sorry for this intrusion into your personal space. I came here deliberately to talk to you as I put to you in the introductory post. My first sentence in that post was not directed at you. It would have been much better if I had said "Since I am not wanted in Ouch!".
You have not posted to this message I do hope that you find it, and that the drift of it does not concern you, because this was not my intention.
Just as in my erroneous entry to Ouch! it is the second post that takes things in the wrong direction.
I hope the matter will be put to bed but I can not speak for the behavior of others. I shall remain subscribed to this entry and will not post to it again unless you would like me to do so.

warner - a new era of cooperation

I must say that the confusion over the different nature of communities in the BBC messageboards seems rather amusing smiley - biggrin

AB, you can post in 'Ouch! Talk' (the main forum) and you will be welcome as long as you keep the subject somehow connected with disability. It's also a good idea to lurk for a while and see what others are talking about, and whether it interests/concerns you. There are a few other forums in Ouch! and a description can be found here >> http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mbouch/

I hope this helps smiley - smiley
