New Zealand!!

I'm off to NZ!! I've got loads more research to do on it before I go but I've decided that I'm now going at the end of this year! Woohoo!! 
I've gotta find out about flights, accomodation, where I'm gonna go, and most importantly ..... gardens that are open to the public!! I'm a horticulturist and TOTALLY obsessed with plants! 
All my friends get so bored of me going on about them, but it's what I'm passionate about, and so I want to go and see different areas of the world, and the variety of plants in each place. I worked for a short time at the National Botanic Garden of Wales, and there was a part of the Great Glasshouse devoted to New Zealand and Western Australia, and the plants......amazing?! Forget about your bog standard Eucalyptus, they've got a plant called Anigozanthus, or Kangaroo Paw, when the flower opens it does actually look like a paw, it's really freaky!!
So if anyone has any info bout what do to and where to go in NZ, any advice is gratefully received!
