fords - number 1 all over heaven

And to think we sent men to the Moon with less technology than the power of my wee Samsung Genio...truly awesome.

I love some of the experiment images I scan from the Apollo era. Usually the images will include a section to indicate the time and orbital location. Today they use digital displays as I'm sure you can imagine. In the Apollo era they would often use a wristwatch sans band bolted to the experiment package.

Interesting. I certainly wouldn't expect to see coyotes in Chicago. However, they're probably as well behaved as the Cubs fans.

You don't have that problem with Astros fans. Their spirits were broken many years ago. They're more like feral pomeranians that were kicked too many times.

I know. Royals fans are like that, too. At least the Cards give me something to cheer about now and again. Cardinals fans are pretty loyal. We hang tough in the bad years. We aren't just fair weather fans.

Remember when the mods pulled three consecutive nicknames of mine for insulting the Cubs in Latin? smiley - rofl Those were the days.

This is from a Discovery Channel show that features high speed footage of things. I gave up watching the show when they seemed to run out of neat things to shoot, like bullets hitting bubbles and started showing stuff like parkour nobs jumping off walls.

Luckily, the interwebs pointed me to one of the coolest mundane every day occurrences I've ever seen shot at 2,000 fps.

We've all seen slow motion drops of water, and they look pretty, but I never thought it would get cooler just by slowing it down more.

Check this out.

DUCK... AND COVER!

Sing along, everyone! smiley - ok

Seriously, how does someone write an article like this one, [ http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/16/science/16terror.html?_r=1 ] without using the words Duck and Cover or mentioning Bert the turtle (google Duck and Cover).

Their point may be valid about sheltering in place after a nuclear attack, but I am one of that generation that grew up with a fatalistic attitude about it. The mere idea of anything sounding even vaguely like "duck and cover" sounds like something meant to mollify a panicking public more than anything else. At the same time, after living through the Bush years, I also can't help but suspect (at least a little) that this could be the trite tactic of fear mongering to distract the public.

Now, how much are fallout shelters running these days?

After recently watching Exit Through The Gift Shop, I asked a coworker if he'd seen it. He hadn't yet, but he asked me if I'd heard of The Underbelly Project.
