Heh, they also (understandably omitted the ship, Nell< from _Battle Beyond the Stars_. It was the most pneumatic spaceship in SciFi filmdom.

Apparently I just missed an opportunity for a brush with a brush with greatness. The proprietors of my local pub got word that one of their patrons that just left was "a member of Pink Floyd". Well, of course I was credulous. I'm not saying that had Rick Wright, Syd Barrett, or maybe even David Gilmour or Roger Waters had just walked out as I sipped my drink and stared at my tablet to avoid listening to political arguments or watch the sprots on TV that I would have recognized them. So I asked for a name. The proprietors had to check some receipts. We'd already established (through my listing of the above names and Nick Mason) that it wasn't an actual Pink Floyd member. But maybe it might have been some previous associate or guest performer. The first familiar name they found was Brian Jones. Well, being from The Stones and being long dead ruled that out. We finally found the name of Vernon Thomson. If that name isn't familiar, don't feel alone. Even Vernon himself wasn't aware of the connection until Nick Mason's book came out decades later. He was a member of Sigma Six with Nick and Roger Waters briefly while they were students in London.
Here's an article.

To summarize: I was in a bar and didn't know it with a man who was in a band and didn't know it with members who would later be in Pink Floyd.

You have to wonder how someone could be in a band with a couple of people who go on to become as famous as those two
I mean, he must have known their names at the time, and hardly anyone in Britain could have been ignorant of the band members of Pink Floyd at some point, whether it was the Syd Barrett Years, or when Dark Side of the Moon came out, or when the pig broke free over Battersea Power Station and brought European air traffic to a halt The names of Roger Waters and Nick Mason were not what you could call obscure.

Well, I get the idea he definitely knew who the were later, but it seems like hew wasn't in Sigma 6 but for a couple of months while they were in college. He sounds like he was never seriously considering a music career so he probably forgot about it. Sigma 6 went through several changes and members moved around a lot. They later went through several names, the Meggadeaths, the Abdabs and the Screaming Abdabs, Leonard's Lodgers, and the Spectrum Five before settling on Tea Set. They switched the name to The Pink Floyd Sound after Syd discovered another band called Tea Set were booked to play one of their gigs.
Life changes fast at college and it's easy to forget everything you did. For me, it's impossible to remember more than a few names. I have a group photo of just some of the members of the photography department while I was at SHSU and while I remember all the faces, I can only remember a couple of their names now.

I'm sharing this here mostly because I just found it and it's late at the bar and my eyes and brain just can't take it all in at the moment.

The Land of the Strays (Territorio de Zaguates) is a free range, no kill shelter in Costa Rica that promotes mutt "breeds" like the Alaskan Collie Fluffyterrier, Chubby-Tailed German Dobernauzer and Fire-Tailed Border Cocker.
They periodically take all the dogs out for a hike where prospective adopters can socialize with the pack.
