Only enties which have names can be linked to like you've tried.

< ./>HouseRules</. > without the spaces is a good example.

You can find a list of the named entries at A692903.

If you want to link to an entry which isn't named then you need to use the A number like I did above. This doesn't need the < ./> on each side. You can find the number by going to the entry and looking on the right hand side of the screen. There should be the entry number.

Forums are the same, eg a link to this forum would be F1788582?thread=409774 . These are found in the address bar of your browser and are the bit after http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/brunel/ (brunel may say classic, alabaster or plain instead depending on which skin you are using).

You seem to have got the hang of posting to forums and using smileys.

What do you want to get out of h2g2?
Do you want to talk to people?
Do you want to write entries on subjects that interest you?
Do you just want to read and learn from what other people have written?
Or of course there is the option to do all of the above!

If you want to write an entry then you can go to your space (on the left hand side of the screen is a 'my space' button, this will take you back to your space wherever you go so don't worry about getting lost )

Once you are at your space you can go down the screen to the bit that says "MY GUIDE ENTRIES" in this section is a link "Create New Entry" where you can create a new entry.

An entry is a page which you can fill with whatever you like (so long as it's withing the <./>HouseRules</.&gt It can be found by anyone via the search box on the top right (though unless you have unusual terms you can search for in the entry it may not show at the top of the search list )

When reading other peoples' entries you can comment on them if you like by clicking on the link under the entry that says "Start a new conversation"

If you are reading someone elses personal space you can scroll down to the section "MESSAGES" and click "Leave a Message" to talk to them.

Why don't you leave me a message now, to get to my space you click on my name above this post. From there you can read all about me on h2g2 and leave me a hello message on my Personal space.
