Hello there teacher in foreign parts. Snap. Except I teach drama, and the end is in sight (not the drama - the exit visa).
After umpteen years I still find my expat status curiously disorientating, and have turned to the Web to re-establish links, not so much with where I come from, but who I think I used to be. (And you're welcome to do major surgery on my sintacks!)OK..... this calls for one of they smiley things..... (Just talk amongst your alter egos....) Ah! . Yay! Cool! Woah! Getting the hang of this!
OK ....Where's the mental health smiley?
I also only joined hootoo about three days ago. Isn't it interesting and entertaining?
Anyway, it's past my bedtime. (I'm afraid you'll have to imagine the sleepy smiley, because if I leave this page to search for it, I may never get back!
Goodnight.

Good morning - how was the cricket? hope you got some sleep - thanks for writing to me and for the bird census thread and link (I'm what here is called lurker, reader-of-other-people's-letters, no one minds, .) I did some thorough bird-watching with our zoology teacher at uni a horrible 30(!) years ago. We spent three weeks in Vologda forests in June, which was early spring there, you can look up the place on a map of Russia, its in the north of the European part. We lived in a large two-storey house, the northern kind of dwelling where animals used to occupy the first floor with people living upstairs. It was a dying village, there are lots of them dying all over the country, sadly. The landscapes were magnificent, the northern sky is kind of closer overhead, and of course I was very very young...Thanks for bringing it all back unexpectedly.
There, that's hootoo for you - say hello to somebody and you get an account of a total stranger's experiences in some faraway land and time. , but didn't I warn I was a o?!
Teaching drama - a childhood dream - what language do you have to speak most of the time? And who do you teach? And where to next?
I remember the rush of my first days on hootoo a month ago - hailstorm of new impressions and chances - now things have settled down a bit, anyway I have v.little time to spare - yes, this site is inspiring! Believe it or not, it inspired me to start our own forum for my students and I ended up even busier, tinkering with it and reading their stuff and 'editing' - that is more marking, only online! You may find yourself giving on-line drama lessons - in this case, I'm enrolling

Rush is right; hailstorm too. I started blogging last April and found it quite addictive, but I like the sheer number of people involved here: there's so much going on! Rapidly learnt fix technique: check headlines, visit Infinite Improbability for edutainment, check conversations, get OFF and go do marking!
I'm in the UAE, teaching in English, and heading for Spain in July. Note to self: First Find Job. Soon.....
Russia huh? I really wanted to go to Scandinavia, and applied for a summer au pair job. They sent me to Biarritz. End of Scandinavian adventure. These days, my northern dream destination is the JukkasjÀrvi Ice Hotel in Sweden, but I've got a bit of a marvin feeling about that......
Where are you? Language? Bullet points acceptable given time restraints! Gotta again!

Hello again
I met you on PhredFirecloud's thread and really enjoyed your company.
You were in no hurry and it was a pleasure to listen.
Thank you for the poem, here on hootoo it seems equal to reading poetry aloud to a sympathetic audience, a circle of friends. That's what I dreamed of getting my friends to do many years ago, but it didn't work, we live in a huge city and poetry seems to be out of place.
How long have you been in UAE and isn't it difficult to switch countries and cultures? Any news re. job offer?
Key: Complain about this post
