To vegetate or not to vegetate, is that the question?
I got into this by clicking onto THIS LIFE which I was happily addicted to and found myself in this alternative universe h2g2 (this was one of my best books).
I am very old but why can't the life of a granny be interesting?
When I am not just vegetating (as old people do) I still work a bit, read a lot, play music, think about working on my allotment and spend as much time as I can get away with on holiday in France. Because I live in London, it is now much easier to go to Paris than to Manchester, which has to be a good thing. I went to Manchester once for a wedding,it was a great experience but one visit was enough to last a lifetime.
One of my chief bugbears in newspapers and on the BBC is the frequent comment'Don't take your granny to this film/ play/ exhibition' and similar injunctions.
Where do they think we've been living? We have as much right to watch sex and gratuitous violence as anyone else. We are the children of the 60's,
we invented it and I refuse to be relegated to watching Countdown. The most depressing thing about afternoon TV is watching ads for stairlifts, walk-in baths and cures for rheumatism, not to mention the coy incontinence pads ads.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
