Hi pit
this is how i make it
i use bread yeast at the moment but that is going to change
cheap value honey, tesco 67p, yeast 1 sachet about 2.5 teaspoons worth, i used to make 6l a time because i had 2x 3l tupperware containers with lids, i stabbed the lids with a sharp knife to leave some slits that the co2 cound burp out of
i currently make it in 5l batches
into a pan put 1 jar of honey add water up to 1l do this to make as much as you want, 1 jar to each litre
boil
skim off the foam that forms
when no more foam forms, take off the heat, cover and allow to cool
steralize and rinse your containers
to the body heat mix add your yeast and stir it in,
pour into your containers and cover
put them somewhere cool for about 2 weeks
pour into bottles, leaving any sediment in the containers
close the bottles
let stand for min. a week
drink
i found that it was a bit cloudy, but that settled out after a while, so with a funnel and some bottles i was able to pour off the clear stuff and gradually purify it more and more

OK, looks like I might be getting the hang of it.
One jar of honey - over here that´s 450 grams, ~ one pound. Fits?
Sachet of yeast - so you use the dried stuff instead of the smeary? (It´s the same biologically, so if you use dry and tell me 2.5 teaspoons I´m OK)
Right. So all I need are containers. Visiting Sabine and burgling her kitchen might be an idea.
(I don´t have to be afraid of her dogs - they like me, as long as I manage to look like a bratwurst)

Taff, could you shoot me an emil? Some time ago you explained how to pronounce Welsh spelled in Latin alphabet. I´m rereading B. Cornwell´s "Winter King" trilogy and some of the names and places would tie my voice instruments in knots - my letter/sound understanding is rather Saxon.

Viele Panzer (Many Tanks)! We had quite a few Taffies in Wetmold (REME attracts people who don´t scrape their knuckles when walking), but they were too busy chasing local female wildlife and couldn´t teach language.

Old chap - if you have problems finding yeast I can get you some. €5 per kilogram, we just need to find how importing is legal.

then. Buying it here wouldn´t be a problem, but import regulations might be. Don´t want you in jail 24/365.
