What a great day it was! 70° ... slightly hazy ... watched Mr. Met raise that Pennant! But the Mets' ludicrous slogan for this year? 2001 A Shea Odyssey! Puh-lease!
We had good seats behind homeplate for the home opener today, and my Metsies beat the hated Braves 9-4! We hammered them! Mike Piazza hit 2 - count them 2 homeruns! Yoshi Shinjo hit his first American homerun as well. It was a bomb into the back of the bleachers! Oh, it was sweet!
I'm sunburned, hoarse, tired, and happy! And to top it off, it just started to pour, and we're in the middle of a thunderstorm! So the weather held off, and all 54,000 Mets fans had a great day!
Opening Day, the best day of the baseball season, bar none!

Sunburned, tired, & happy? How can those three words be in the same sentence? And in a downpouring thunderstorm too, eh? Good to hear the
Mets won, but I prefer the Yankees. They are closer to my home state, Vermont.
Bye,

Hi Semithist!
The Red Sox are closer to your home than the Yankees, but I won't quibble ...
Sunburned, tired and happy can all be in the same sentence! See, they're in another one right there! And it rained after I got home from the game, silly!

And then it took another whole week for the Mets to beat anyone whose name wasn't "Atlanta Braves". Incredible. At least the Mets have beaten the Expos the last two nights.
It's possible that Bennington, Vt., might be closer to Yankee Stadium than Fenway Park, but I've never measured it. On the other hand, Burlington, Vt., is closest to Stade olympique in Montréal.

After I sent the Fenway Park note, I was wondering if Montréal was closer ...
Yeah, after all these years of being downtrodden by the Braves, it's "amazing" they're the only team the Mets can beat ...
Oh well, the life of a Mets fan ...

My first game ever was a Met game, and I'm still something of a fan. Being 6-9 to start this season is not a good sign. Boy, it's a good thing they had Thing off, the way they're going.
