I'm a stranger here myself
Hello, nice to be here.
My name's Patrick. I'm a Canadian currently living in Jakarta, on the Island of Java in Indonesia. I was born in 1956 and am still wondering what I should do when I grow up. Thus far I've been pretty much everything that crossed my mind; I've lectured in philosphy and I've been a private investigator; I've been a political risk analyst and I've done stuntwork in movies; I've taught SCUBA diving and I've written speeches for cabinet members; I've managed a brothel and owned a real estate company
At present, I'm writing a book (two actually, but focussing on one) on business practices in Indonesia, I lecture at several universities and I write regularly for the op-ed pages of southeast Asian newspapers.
On weekends I try to get down to a beach (there's lots of them around here) to embarass myself surfing, or I go over to Bali for SCUBA and the nightlife. I pop over to Singapore at least once a month and I travel around the region, Thailand, Vietnam,Myanmar, Malaysia, China when I have time.
What a long, strange trip it's been. Wonder what's next.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
