I'm gonna live!!!
Posted Feb 22, 2005
Well, I haven't been around h2g2 much lately coz I've been a bit freaked out you see. Last week I made a doctor's appointment for today and I haven't been able to concentrate on much else since then.
It's one of those times when you know there's something wrong with you but you don't know what the heck it is...
So anyway, I went to the doc at 9:30 this morning, feeling totally freaked out, and then he said he would need to do some tests on me...
Well...
When I heard what they were for, I wanted to run out of there screaming, but all my legs could do were conk out and land me rather heavily on this old hard chair (which I then proceded to almost fall off). I'm waiting for the bruises.
He said he needed to test me for heart disease and cancer.
I'M ONLY 20 YEARS OLD FOR FREAK'S SAKE!!!
So anyway, I had to go do the whole ECG thing, the Ultrasound, and a number of other unpronouncable tests, which took about 3 hours, but I survived.
And you know what the good news is?
I'M GONNA LIVE ON!!!
I WILL SEE MY 21st BIRTHDAY AFTER ALL!!!
In fact, I'll probably see my eightieth!
*packs out laughing picturing herself as an old granny with a fire hazard on the birthday cake !!!*
I am very relieved to say that I do not have any heart diseases, nor do I have cancer!
What is actually up with me is that I have a much slower heart beat then the average person. This apparently isn't common at all, which was why they had to check it out. Naturally this means that I will feel cold much sooner than anyone else, etc, etc, and everything else that goes with having a really slow blood flow, but the positive side is that if I ever get shot (you never know!), with my heart pumping so much slower than anyone else's, I will live a good lot of minutes longer and will therefore have more time for an ambulance to rescue me because my blood will not be fountaining out of me.
I can live with that!
The other thing wrong with me which is slightly more serious but can still be fixed, is that my upper back muscles need to be worked out and developed more than the normal person's. It's because of the heart thing. So even though I walk up straight and do not appear to have a problem, my upper back muscles are battling to hold my rib cage causing it to cause extra pressure where my ribs meet my sternum (breastbone).
That's what was causing the inflammation and pain.
So basically, I'm on anti-inflammatories now and I have to do some serious extra exercise for my upper back muscles so that they can continue to hold my rib cage up normal.
So, yeah, I'm gonna live!

As everyone has probably noticed, I have been around h2g2 less.
That is because work started today.
It's one of those necessary evils in life and I have to face it now.
