ACE's welcome expatmw!
expatmw Posted Oct 11, 2006
It looks absolutely lovely there, our leaves have not really started to turn yet - as I said we are a bit delayed this year.
The temp today was 19 C! Positively a heat wave - the usual is a lot lower than that for this time of year.
I was outside today after work, drinking my tea.
Went to a peadiatric conference today so feel a bit jaded after sitting and listening for so long.

Cloudy & only 1.1 C today, which is alright I suppose - it'll be much worse in a couple months I'm sure.

Unable to get to a computer last night, too much to do and too little time.
yet another weekend upon us - they all go so fast.

Ah yes*sigh*...so fast, much too fast it seems!

Well it is nearly over now, I seemed to get very little done. My son was ill all friday night, so we all felt pretty wiped out on Saturday.
A question -Is there any way to change my name on here, I think the one I chose is pretty poor and I would like something more interesting ( what, I do not know yet)

I do hope your son is feeling somewhat better by now - nothing serious I hope. Yes it is possible to change your name. Of course in terms of registration(or statistics)you'll remain 'expatmw'. But just click on 'Preferences' and that allows you to enter a new name, should you choose to. I had registered years ago as 'jazzedupcurry' and approximately a year ago shortened it to simply jaz'd.

Thanks, when I have thought of something fancy I will have a go!
Still waiting for the map to decide to load a bit closer to where I live, thought it would do it today but failed at the last hurdle.
Thank you - my son is much better today, just got one of those nasty sickness bugs but it only lasted about 24 hours. So school is OK tommorrow.
I have to travel away tommorrow so will not be able to look at this site until later on Wednesday. Luckily I have a house husband so have no childcare problems.

That's good, just a rather routine 24 hour bug! Ah *sigh* real life(or RL as it's sometimes referred to here)doestake one far afield-so to speak-from time to time...take care and see you Wed. then!

Hi how are you, the wanderer has returned.
I was wondering, do you think it would be silly to ask how many Terry Pratchett fans there are out there? I like his books a lot, but am far from an expert- oh my goodness, that has just reminded me that I am supposed to be a book club meeting NOW. - Sorry must go.
Speak later.

Ah hello again! No that'd be alright I'd imagine. I had recently skimmed the existing questions and don't recall seeing that sort of thing. I certainly hope the book club meeting was nearby! Yes, speak later!

Yes the meeting was just down the road, I had to change out of my work clothes and throw something on, but I wasn't too late.
Not a bad first meeting, couple of glasses of wine always helps!
Are you one of the ones who like Douglas Adams who are on this site? - I have read very little of his so maybe I should get one out of the library and read. I buy very few books - except Terry Pratchett - I have all of his!
The weather is getting a lot colder now - even had to bring some of my indoor plants back in.

Ah that was certainly good...the meeting being nearby! Yes I am somewhat of a Douglas Adams fan, though I must confess I haven't actually read too many of the books...sort of 'absorbed' things by osmosis or whatever. Yes*sigh* it's been considerably cooler here as well recently, light rain & only 3.7 C right now. Although the forecast predicts that it should be back in the 'teens early next week.

Hi I have returned - again.
I can go days when I have no time to even look at a computer - except at work, and then I ceratinly cannot do things like this.
How are things with you?
I managed a few conversations or whatever you call them and met up with a few people on this site a few days ago . It was fun getting answers from all over the place.
Is there any way that you can set up to have spell check on this site, I am a very poor typist and speller and often rely on it to put things right as I go along.

Hi...that's fine, life can be like that(what does that say about my life? ) Actually things are going well, for asking. The weekend was a nice one, with warm sunny conditions and some family activities Sun. The weather Mon. was 18 C(which hasn't been the case for some time).
Yes conversations is the proper term! That's great that you could arrange a meeting!
I don't think it's possible to set up an onsite spell-check. I know I'd use it exhaustively if it were available! Trust me, typists are very rarely any poorer than I am...and*sigh*I confess to often consulting online dictionaries for spelling! A few of those being http://www.m-w.com/ , http://www.dictionarylink.com , http://www.oxfordreference.com or http://dir.yahoo.com/Reference/dictionaries.

That is a good idea using those links, I usually cut and paste to a word document and get that to tell me if something is spelled correctly.
Pouring with rain today, but still not that cold.
Went to my daughters school today for a 'take your parent to school day' It was really good fun, things have changed a lot since I was at school!

Hello...hmm, seems we all have our different 'copiing mechanisms' if that's the proper term.
Sunny and 6.8 C right now which is reasonable for late Oct.
Oh yes I must agree, things certainly have changed in the classroom/school! Society has changed transforming both students and to an extent teachers. And of course with the teachers changing metnods of teaching have been refined and modified.
