Gnomon - time to move on Started conversation Jun 20, 2009
Jim, many years ago Woodpigeon and I proposed a change to the Meta tags on h2g2 entries so that the Edited Entries would be indexed by Google. You kindly made the change, allowing Entries to be indexed, and Category pages to be indexed and "followed".
Now all of the Edited Guide is indexed by Google, it doesn't come very high in the Google listings; I've been told that it would score higher if the links in the Edited Entries to other entries were followed. I don't know whether this is true or not, but it might be worth a try.
Would it be possible to set the meta tags on the tops of entries to "follow" instead of "nofollow", even on a temporary basis, just to see if it would have the desired effect?

Conversations are marked "noindex, nofollow", so I assume that they won't be looked at by the search engine.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
