Has my cookie crumbled ??

Hi Jim, and seasons greetings
Sorry to bother you with a problem but I seem to be having trouble logging onto h2g2 these days.
As often as not, (not always) h2g2 doesn't recognise me and asks me to register as a new researcher. At first I got in via a 'back door' but when I tried to 're register' it tells me I'm already there and expects that I would like I would like to go to my home page.
Lately I note that when that happens I get 'yesterdays' postings and date. Also, recently any posting I've made to other forums don't always come up at the head of my postings list without 'refreshing' the page.
Today I tried to load a new article/page but it wouldn't recocognise it or me.
One other thing seems strange, Is it possible that one researcher can end up with two (identical) pages??. I happen to have one of those counters on the page, it may be that it's just unreliable but it seems to be operating two lots of 'counts' which made me think that I'm looking at two pages.
I've tried all the fixes I can think of including those from 'Dont Panic' but no go.
I'm using Netscape 4 browser and have had reletively little trouble before, or am I just doing something stupid ?
Thanks and Best Wishes A.M.

Firstly, make sure you set up a password so that if your cookie goes astray you can easily log back in without needing to fiddle about with email.
Secondly, check that Netscape isn't caching pages too much. When you say you're having to refresh pages, it suggests to me that you're caching too much. Of course, it could also be your ISP that's doing the caching.
In most browsers, you can turn down the caching - try looking in your options. Or, if you have IE4 or 5 as well, try using that and see if it makes any difference.
Key: Complain about this post
