'Ello.

Are Elvised researchers' conversation lists updated? The 'info' page says there are 852203 researchers, which seems a touch unlikely! If Elvised researchers' convo lists are updated, and bearing in mind recent comments about the Announcements being subscribed to a large proportion of researchers and updating that many lists being an issue, would it be possible to disable Elvised researchers convo lists to stop 'em updating, possibly leaving a 'Reactivate Convos' button behind?

I'm not techie so might ne barking up a tree that isn't even there, but it popped in to my head as I fell asleep last night and had to ask.

It's a touchy point - just because someone hasn't been here for a given period, does that mean we should be able to fiddle with their conversation lists? It's something we could do, and it would help, but we are running the risk of annoying someone.

We'll have to see how the posting lag goes. It's 17:58 now and there's no lag at all. It's usually up to 90 minutes and counting by this time. It's probably because Danny Wallace is broken.

Things seem to be fine tonight. I'm amazed Danny Wallace is still going - I joined up then forgot all about it a week after the programme finished!

Yeah, it could be contentious, but could a 'Reinstate Convo's' button negate that? Would the aforementioned button be possible?

There are a hell of a lot of researchers who aren't coming back and I'd reckon that any that missed the place enough to return would understand.

I thought some of the oldest pre-SSO, pre-previous-change accounts which hadn't ever been updated were now unrecoverable. If so, then it shouldn't matter if they were unsubscribed from Askh2g2 say. Indeed it would be better if they were, and some backdating was also done, because then their true last posted history and list would show up.
