Who am I?
I am married and live just outside of Washington, DC in Springfield, VA and work in Washington. I am a native of the DC area as I was raised in Falls Church, VA so named as The Falls Church (an Episcopalian church) has been located there since the time of George Washington. About 50% of Washingtonians are natives and 50% are not. Springfield is named for the fact that back during the Civil War someone tossed a huge pile of bedsprings into a field next to the railroad station.
Well, when I am not busy working; my husband and I like to spend Saturday nights ensconced before the TV watching one of two PBS stations both of which carry Brit Wit (As Time Goes By, Keeping Up Appearences, Last of the Summer Wine, Are You Being Served?, etc.) We enjoy all of the shows. I recently heard that Last of the Summer Wine has been on for 30 years!!!! Truely amazing. I really enjoy the scenes where the three men amble up into the hills because the view from the hills is so amazing.
But I have some question and comments. Does everyone use a half-size refrigerator? People here in the US buy those refrigerators to use in the office, the dorm, etc. Is there some sort of tax incentive to keep the refrigerator small?
Also when Hyacinth says to Elizabeth "Do you want a beaker?" I always envision that she is going to pull out this glassware item that is more commonly used in a chemistry lab. And then she gives here a mug. And then of course on "As Time Goes By," whenever there is a ringing noise, I never know whether they are going to answer the phone or go to the door.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
