I can tell you I definately go through phases. I become seriously obsessed with something for a coulpe of weeeks and then simply give it up. Star Wars, Ties, Hats, you name it I was obsessed with it. Apart from sports which I avoid as a matter of principle. i say I give it up, But I don't I keep it up out of kindness and love, but not with th esame oomph. E.g. ties, I was completely insistant on wearing ties all the time, but now I'll wear the occasional tie if the outfit calls for it, just a litlle something extra. But I don't defend them with the same vigour as I used to.
