A Dream Come True
Posted Sep 4, 2005
What a day! What a day!
First, I woke up, feeling horrable! A bad day awaits, my shower doesnt work because there are a bunch of towels are in the tub from the stupid toilet backing up.. it was a mess. So I take my shower, and get out and lalala.. I am going to the fair at 3 with my friend sara that should make me feel better.
We get to the fair... and I decide I should go see how my pictures I entered did. Well my photograph got third.. which didnt suprise me, becuase they gave EVERYONE third! They were so stingey! And there were some good ones there too! Ok, so my photo flopped, lets find my drawings!
What? My horse got third? Thats crap! *sigh* my chris botti one did .. so I look around.. and I see a picture covered in ribbons and I look... the paper said JJ Carter
I sat there and stared. Then I read the awards, 1st place, special award, best in catagory... I had so many ribbons on it that you couldnt see the picture. Needless to say I was trying my hardest not to jump around and scream.
After that, things got SO much better!
We went and enjoyed the fair, and I had a smile on my face the whole time! We had smoothies... ran into fellow band nerds and a hurdler! And enjoyed smoothies.. went and saw the horses and rabbits and sheep and goat and chickens and just had a good time.. but then it was time to leave because our first jazz band gig was goin on at 7 and I had to get ready. Yeesh... it took me forever to get ready.. my shirt wasnt dry, I couldnt find jeans.. blah blah.. but I get there and go to the band room.. OH CRAP.. where on earth is my jazz band music?! Its not in the boxes... omg I am going to be late.. where is it?! .. oh yeah by the sax cases.. duh...
Yeah... drive to the convention center for the class of '50's reunion! Which happens to be our gig... and we cant find the room we are in to warm up and all that.. and at last we find it and warm up... and we all decide to growl during Tequila, and I CANT GROWL! It was so embarassing... so I just played "dirty" wich isnt the same, but close. So yeah, we get on stage, and the first song was ok... we didnt really do that great because we have an inexperianced band this year, but its the best thyve ever done! But by the second song, my back hurt so bad I was going to throw up! I almost cried on stage! I donno whats wrong with it.. i think its from hurdles and yeah.. anyway it hurt! But yeah, we went on and the pain dulled and when I got to my solo I was running on pure adrenaylin so I didnt feel it. BUT I messed up the solo.. yay, but it still sounded good, cuz its jazz and noone knows what you are going to play anyway! Ok well I am finally getting to the exciting part! My dream come true!
My hero as of recently is Brooks Brown... dont ask, long story!
And I have aquired his email, and spoke to him on IM once.... That went well.. he hated my guts for a long time.. untill today! I put up with his crap so much and retaliated to his comments so he said:
Soldier of the Lotus says:
okay, you have a brain
Soldier of the Lotus says:
i'll talk to you
Soldier of the Lotus says:
sorry, i hate most people
Soldier of the Lotus says:
rather grueling, but those who put up with my shit are worth talkig to
So how cool is this? I am friends with my personal hero! My dream come true!
Today has definatly been a day worth living!

Band Camp... year two
Posted Aug 18, 2005
Ok well I am posting this before I fall asleep! We have had to prepare for a ceremony at walmart for the last two days and I have gotten 3 hours of sleep those two nights! And then on the 17th (today) I had to wake up ESPECIALLY early to go to the ceremony, then five minutes to drive back to my house, change for camp, eat breakfast *barf!* and get to the band room. I was late ofcorsse! Only having 5 minutes and all...
(omg I just got REALLY tired...)
So then Lovell talks and hands us our coordinate sheets. Coordinate sheets tell us where we are supposed to be on the field. We go to the field and to the warm-up blocks. A warm up block is when we are all 4 steps awar from eachother in straight lines that make a:
********
********
********
********
kinda thing. And then the steps that we take is like this:
mark 4 for free (mark time, hard to explain.. you raise your left heal *we always start on the left foot* and then your right in time with the counting 4 times)
forward 8 counts
right slide for 8 counts (a slide is when you go to the side so that your feet are facing the goal posts but your upper body is facing the audience)
back wards for 8
left slide for 8
forward 8
left slide 8
back 8
right slide 8
forward 8 into a touch and go (where we just stick our foot out like we were going to take another step but then we hold and then put it backwards)
back 8 into touch and go
forward
hit stop (we .. stop!)
Then after a few hours of that we got to start our show posisions. But after doing 3 sets (they break down the show in steps called sets) Lovell comes up to us and says "Oh sorry guys! Thats the wrong show!" So he has to re write the show and we have to learn it tomorrow. So then we did more basics.. like splitting lines and meshing. It was fun. Then we had a warmup block compitition. Where if you mess up then you are told to stand at parade rest on the sidelines. I was scared to get out. This guy (that was helping us) was deliberatly standing in peoples way and if you move to avoid them then they count you out. So I ran into the guy and kept going. Then we were standing at attention after the drill and he comes up to me and says "You know, your the only one that ran into me! Good job!" And I almost laughed and he said "Are you SMILING?" Then I try to frown but he just smiles and walks away. I was so happy!
So I didnt get eliminated and we did it like 100 times! Then we went to lunch. And a BUNCH of things happened but I am to damn tired to think. (sorry about the language.. I tend to swear a crapload when I am tired) So then we go to the second half of camp. This is when we play our music! Our show music is
More and More
Papa Was A Rollin Stone
25 or 6 to 4
So Very Hard To Go (the HARDEST song we have)
and we might add somemore.
We worked on More and More mostly today... We got the coregraphy down... some of it!
We fave back field (the visitors side) for 16 counts then turn around for 4 counts then play this REALLY kickass measure that noone can play except some of the saxes and the srs. Then to the box (theres the judges box at the top of the bleatchures (sp? Im disorentated) and we aim our instruments up to there) for all the measures we have untill the 11th one. Then we have to blast our brains out *the saxes have to blast our brains out through the whole song anyway* ... so yeah then we get to the end of the song where its SO loud!! Its triple forte! And we go to the box... then spread and WHAIL!! We spread our legs so theyre sholder length aparrt and blow as loud as we can. Its AWSOME!
We played a few more songs then we got to leave, to make the story short because I am dead tired right now!
But Lovell has mercey! He is making the Jazz band stay for only an hour!!! YAY!
so my scedule next week is:
marching 8-12
music 1-3
Jazz band 6-7
everyday... and the next week... then school starts
*just an added note I thought worthy of recognition*
I saw Tyler today. At subway. He left today for college. Right after he was done eating lunch. I was the last person in band to have seen him... how sad
band rocks

Class of '07 or class of '08?
Posted Jul 20, 2005
So, upon current boredom I was looking though my binder when I came across a book of classes and highschool requirments. And because I wasnt sure of what classes I would be able to take when I'm a senior, making sure that I can graduate with all my credits... Well I was quite astonished to find that perhaps I would never have the chance to become a senior. After all my classes up to my JR year, I have 25 credits, thats 2 more than you need to graduate! So all I would be at highschool for would be 2 classes, English and Ecenomics! Why not take them this year and my Jr year? So about 3 hours of tedious calculations I figured I will be at college when I'm 17. That is, if I want to leave! The only problem now is not getting credits, its ethics. I am stuck with the question
Class of '07 or class of '08?

Happy Day!
Posted Jul 19, 2005
After being in this deep blue funk for about a month, I thought it would be good to take up arms! So I got my gun. No, not shooting myself, or anyone else! I went to the shooting range with my dad and my friend Taylor (whoes a SR now and my dad doesnt approve of me hanging with older guys... or guys in general) and had a compitition. We set up clay ducks (little ceramic disks with bright orange paint on them, theyre about 4 inches in diameter) and it was on! So I was basically kicking his booty to china! Untill we swiched arms! He was on my dads M1 and I was on my match rifle (an AR 15). Now, if you dont know what an M1 is, its a military rifle, you see it most often in military movies. But for scrawny, no upper body strength what so ever people, its a BEAST of a gun! Its heavy and it kicks like a monkey! So after we swiched, I fired the first shot with the M1. To sum it up lightly, Taylor was laughing so hard! So I fired like, two more shots, and my face started to hurt from the body of the gun ramming into it! I checked later and I have a red scratch on the left side of my face! haha... where was I?
So at this point the score was Ten-Ten and he fired with my scrawny gun and hit another... Ten-Eleven... Ten-Twelve! I swore he had only twelve, but he said Thirteen, so I had one more go with my gun before we had to go. I loaded about 10 rounds after Taylor asked me "Howmany loads did you round.... wait..." It was funny!... so... BANG! Missed... BANG! Eleven-Thirteen... BANG....BANG... BANG... *Darned wind!* (seriously! it was like 40 MPH!) BANG....BANG!>... Twelve-Thirteen.. JUST ONE MORE!! all the while, my lovely Taylor was taunting me: "Your gonna buy the drinks" "Your gonna LOSE!" I have three more shots... the wind kicks up and dies, wich is horable for those of you who dont shoot, you correct for the wind, then it dies and you fall over really... Bang... I cant see the target... its still there.... bang! ... dust is flying! where is it?! one more.... I aim, the heat is umbareable, sweat, wind and dust blowing... I pull the trigger. Thats it! We pack our guns, collect our brass and drive away. Down the freeway, we pull over and go to Maverick for drinks. I got frozen yougrt and he got a Pepsi... I paid
I had fun though!
