After being in this deep blue funk for about a month, I thought it would be good to take up arms! So I got my gun. No, not shooting myself, or anyone else! I went to the shooting range with my dad and my friend Taylor (whoes a SR now and my dad doesnt approve of me hanging with older guys... or guys in general) and had a compitition. We set up clay ducks (little ceramic disks with bright orange paint on them, theyre about 4 inches in diameter) and it was on! So I was basically kicking his booty to china! Untill we swiched arms! He was on my dads M1 and I was on my match rifle (an AR 15). Now, if you dont know what an M1 is, its a military rifle, you see it most often in military movies. But for scrawny, no upper body strength what so ever people, its a BEAST of a gun! Its heavy and it kicks like a monkey! So after we swiched, I fired the first shot with the M1. To sum it up lightly, Taylor was laughing so hard! So I fired like, two more shots, and my face started to hurt from the body of the gun ramming into it! I checked later and I have a red scratch on the left side of my face! haha... where was I?
So at this point the score was Ten-Ten and he fired with my scrawny gun and hit another... Ten-Eleven... Ten-Twelve! I swore he had only twelve, but he said Thirteen, so I had one more go with my gun before we had to go. I loaded about 10 rounds after Taylor asked me "Howmany loads did you round.... wait..." It was funny!... so... BANG! Missed... BANG! Eleven-Thirteen... BANG....BANG... BANG... *Darned wind!* (seriously! it was like 40 MPH!) BANG....BANG!>... Twelve-Thirteen.. JUST ONE MORE!! all the while, my lovely Taylor was taunting me: "Your gonna buy the drinks" "Your gonna LOSE!" I have three more shots... the wind kicks up and dies, wich is horable for those of you who dont shoot, you correct for the wind, then it dies and you fall over really... Bang... I cant see the target... its still there.... bang! ... dust is flying! where is it?! one more.... I aim, the heat is umbareable, sweat, wind and dust blowing... I pull the trigger. Thats it! We pack our guns, collect our brass and drive away. Down the freeway, we pull over and go to Maverick for drinks. I got frozen yougrt and he got a Pepsi... I paid
I had fun though!

Cool. I don't go shooting much, only with the Sea Cadet unit i'm in and sometimes 7th squadron atc. It's fun though. We got old-ass .22s. They are so old, they are officially classed as military antiques.
Happy Day!

nah, I'm from Hamilton in New Zealand. My unit is T.S. Rangiriri, the only unit to not be named after a ship of war. England has Sea Cadets too, though I don't really know about them, they seem a bit like a cross between our Sea Cadets and the Sea Scouts. BTW, NZ Sea Cadets is sponsered by the Royal New Zealand Navy, and Sea Scouts is sponsered by the Merchant Navy, so there is a big differance. We also have ranks, they don't. Our boats are bigger too.

haha, not the Military. We're part of the navy FAMILY, so we get to shoot .22s, go on Navy bases for camps etc., help out the Navy at the Navy open day, and get funding from them, but we don't go into war, we aren't allowed to fire the guns without a range safety officer, and we can't skive off at 5 and go do what we want to do, we have to be on best behavior all the time. It's fun though, I went on a Junior Non Commisioned Officer course last holidays, and made heaps of friends in the Sea Cadets, Army Cadets, and Air Cadets. I have to organise a Tri-corps social in my area for all the Cadets, cause an Army cadet and I had the idea and my Unit Cammander is leaving it to me to organise. It'll be cool though.
I'm also working towards my Chef/Stewards badge, then I'll get extra qualifications in 1st Aid and Marksman.
Happy Day!

OH!! So its kinda like the NZ Navy boyscout reserve thingy? Heh I know what you mean. That sounds like a lot of fun! How old do you have to be to join something like that? I wish we had that sort of thing here, it sounds like a blast!

hi fords i used to be in the army cadets and we fired some real antique weapons lol we had the 22 air rifle which was probably the newest of all of em then we had the 22 bolt action one but my fave was the lee enfield 303 it was used in ww2 and it kicks like an elephant gun lol it was so funny watching the younger kids trying to shoot em without hurting there shoulder but i have used more recent weapons as i was in the RAF for a few yrs

Yeah. We got the bolt action ones for our .22 antiques. Aus is alright, they have the AATC instead of the ATC though, which confuses people a bit. It's not really like boyscouts, thats the Sea Scouts. It's more like a relaxed paramilitary unit that isn't aloud to use guns much or go to war.
