I was moved by what you have written in your personal space.

No, I don't know what it is like to be a 17 year old in the situation you describe, but I have personal knowledge of someone else in a remarkably similar situation, and I agree, it is more than hard.

May I make a suggestion?

You are giving and doing *all* the time. We are not called Human Givings, or Human Doings, we are called Human Beings. Why not use your time here to just BE. To hang out. To chat. To think. To laugh. To read. To write. To chill.

There are all sorts of different ways of making friends, and most of them are better than helping random strangers. My advice is to make the friends first, and to help them only when they ask for it.

You seem to me like someone who deserves an even break. Hootoo is a good place, full of good (and remarkably forgiving) people. Just hang out here for a while. Let it be one place where no-one is making demands on you or asking you for anything.

And to start a conversation off which is not about groups - you say you are a poet. Is there anywhere I could see some of your poems?

Hiya Ben, as I have said to other people.

I'm not making that up in my space, and if I was, I would never use my mother in a situation like that.

I am constantly on the move, doing something for someone, and they appreciate it, I just though I could do it here and be thanked for it, not bombarded by it.

I dont know if I actually fit into a place like this, and will have to take time to think about this.

I didn't think for a second that you were making it up.

You clearly deserve more thanks and recognition for what you are doing than you are currently getting, but I guess that this experience here on h2g2 is showing that there is no short-cut to that. This is a community of real live people, just like any other. Sometimes what we persue the most flees us until we stop persuing it, when it comes and settles naturally on our hand, like a .

Like I said - give yourself an even break. Forget recognition and helping others and all that, and just hang out here for a while, and chill.
