*h2g2 Archangel floating in, in her usual vague, elf-like manner*
Welcome to h2g2!
Do you have any specific questions?
Think about it, and meanwhile, why not try taking the <./>DontPanic-Tour</.>?

I been to that page, and read it all, but thank you.
I was wondering, are there any clubs I can join?
some of the clubs I've seen look complicating..

There is a multitude of clubs and associations at h2g2 - what are your specific interests? Partying, literature, debates, roleplaying, astronomy?

Well, erm..
I mostly like caring and helping people more than anything (as I work as a carer)

Helping people - well, in order to do that, you need to either:
a) have all the answers
b) know where to find them
...and the best way to learn a) and b) would definitely be to spend some time learning to know all the different parts of this site

Personally, I focus on just getting a response, keeping my welcome messages very short (but still friendly) with possibly a comment on something they've written on their user page or in a journal...
If the person replies, wanting to know more, my next step would be:
Ask newcomers if they're interested in reading, writing or conversations - that's the three main areas
For reading, I'd recommend the front page, and also the <./>RandomEditedEntry</.> link
For writing, I'd recommend the <./>Contribute</.> entry
For conversations, I'd recommend checking up the '5 busiest conversations' on the front page, and also <./>Askh2g2</.>

For someone aiming at helping other researchers, I'd definitely recommend checking the <./>NamedEntries</.> page
For example - you can link to <./>ACEs</.> but if it's not listed in the Named Entries, then you will have to use the full A number, for example A690518

the (picture) dont work..

Afraid the GuideML code is built upon American technology, so you have to use the American English version of 'centre'. Still, it works.

Oh, and another link from another ACE - If you want to learn GuideML more, to make your Entries and Space even more interesting, visit the <./>GuideML-Clinic</.>.
