h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I'm sure you're going through a hard time of it all, but I'd like to draw you're attention to a few things. You say you are not the guy who keeps creating these accounts and causing us headaches. Now, this could be for 2 reasons:

1. You arent that guy and you just have a few awful coincidences.
2. You are that guy and you want to start afresh.

If it is the second, this is fine. But, to be honest, the first is harder to believe. There is a lot of loose threads floating around which doesnt help my musings.

You seem to be doing a really great job of the welcoming and that is at the core of being an Angel. You really will be an excellent GA. I'm just here to help that process. If you want to talk off site we can, about anything at all. Just shout and I'll let you know my email addy.

If no-one is happy with what I'm doing, then I will stop, and if no-one wants me on this site, then I will go.

I am not going to caulse trouble, because I dont do that, I like to help, but if my helping people is not wanted and people just want me to leave, I will delete the h2g2 link off my email account.

I will say once again, if anyone reading this has got a problem with me, dont go saying things behind my back, tell me and I might be able to learn my mistakes by what I'm doing wrong.

1) I dont wish to imply that you have something to hide. Many people I talk to just prefer to talk via emails.

2) It is totally irrelevant to me whether you are Liam or not. In fact, many people on here have a large number of personas! I myself have 2 or 3 other people that moonlight from time to time . I'm sure you can understand the trouble we were having with Liam though. It wasnt that he was doing anything wrong, the problem was the fact that he was providing not the best links in the world to newbies and then dropped his character and his organisation. There is nothing wrong with setting up a new greeting service, so long as you dont go round posting everywhere asking people to join you. That was the main problem that people had with the Rangers/Bounties etc.

3) You do a good of greeting newbies. I can see that you will be an excellent member of the GAs. People are happy with what you are doing, and there is no need to take the goat and walk off site. That isnt the place that hootoo is. You just seem to have arrived at an inopportune moment.

4) People dont say things behind your back, mainly because there is no where on h2g2 that is 'private'. Anything you type can be seen by any individual who wants to.

Now, this is acceptable to me, but there have been a number of times where you have written things in posts which allude to you being the Liam character and there have been a number of posts to you which allude to you being that same character. Now, as I said, this is not a problem either way. But you must understand why people are making these accusations. There is a lot of connecting material. But, I repeat, this is not a problem. No-one wants you to leave. It is only that the previous Liam character went about things in the wrong way - it has created difficulties for you. It is not insurmountable though.

I could not care less what or who people think I am, but I do care if I'm being blamed for the work of a sad and annoying individual.

I thank you for what you have done and said, but I dont think it changes the fact that that Liam person has given me a bad name, of which I have no idea why, or when he did these things.

All as I can do is say I'm not him, but that does not ride over people still saying I'm him.

I thought this was a nice, respectful site without any trouble, but I may have thought the wrong thing?

I came to h2g2 from yoome2 (on telewest) to hopefully get away from trouble and people cloning me, etc...

But I am now unsure of if I want to get rid of my telewest box, and yoome2 and h2g2 all together now.

No matter what internet site I go on,, on Pc of digibox, I always seem to get the blame for the act's of someone eles..

I'm sorry but I must think over my options here.

I may be forced to leave, as I do not want to have a bad name (the people on h2g2 think I'm him and are not treating me like they should)...

Junior, you may claim not to be Liam, it even may be true.

But you do your utmost best to give others the impression you are, by starting (another) help-group and the same old way of creating your space and help-group.

If you really want to help, study the site for a few months to learn the way it is working, and then start thinking how you really can help. This way you only irritate and antagonise people.

And make sure NO-ONE else can post with your id. If Liam is indeed so close as you claim, he might mis-use your id if you are automatically signed on when going to the BBC.

I agree entirely with Marjin Junior. Make sure Liam has no access to your account.

And if you want your help group to have credibility, keep plugging away at it. It took many months for the Angels to become established, it most certainly did not happen overnight. And dont go plugging your place overly - it is spamming and *will* be yikesed. Neither should you ask people to join, if people see your good work, they will join of their own free will.

I wanted to make this group because I feel in myself I am ready to start a help group, if I have not got enough experience or I do not know the answer to a question asked, I can just direct the member to the Askh2g2 page.

I feel that I am ready, and if it doesnt work out, then at least I've tried.

Junior, the essence of a help-group is that you DON'T have to sent someone to ASKh2g2. YOU should know the answer, or find it YOURSELF.

At the moment you have just enough experience to put a link to <./>askh2g2</.> on your space, the rest is hot air.

I'm sorry for what I've done, I know I'm been a fool and was going the wrong way about things.

I now know I've just been a idiot, and would like to make it up to everyone for it.

I do not expect forgiveness, but I would like to ask for your understanding. There are many teens 'Like me' who think they know everything 'Like I did' but now I found, I dont know all there is to know.

I am going to take some time to find out alittle more about h2g2, then will go on from there...
