Welcome to Northen Ireland (aka Norn Irn) home to a million-and-one people with at least a million-and-one views of the world, some of them unprintable. I was born here, grew up here, live here, and am eager to leave so will very probably die here. Although I live in Belfast I originate from Armagh, where a guy called Patrick did religious things and didn't get into any trouble. By the time he was made a saint by the relevant authorities he had been credited with driving all the snakes from Ireland, which says a lot about the cross-channel ferries of the time. At the moment the city is preparing for the millennium celebrations which are by all accounts a few years late but that's the Julian calendar for you. My work at the moment concerns these computer things which are meant to stop working around the millennium. As yet there have been no attempts to correct the Y10K problem, which is very short-sighted in my opinion.Conversations
